    The Brady Kick (Merged)

I hated the Patritos and Brady before, but respected their success.

I don't think I can even do that now.

The kick to Reed was despicable. He could have severely injured Reed. It was clearly intentional.

The fact that a penalty flag wasn't thrown is astonishing. A QB sliding is supposed to surrender himself...not attack the opposition with their spikes.

They seem to be a group of horrible, entitled inidviduals that resort to cheating to get their way.

Lost in all the cries for a flag being thrown . . .

If a flag is thrown on Brady, it stops the clock and gives the Patriots about 17-18 seconds to compose themselves and take a couple of shots into the end zone. Instead, they fail to call a time out, the clock runs down, and they settle for a field goal.

No flag on that play actually benefited the Ravens.

If theres a penalty then wouldnt there have been a 10 second run off?

Not if they have a time out, which they did.

    Re: The Brady Kick

Last night it immediately thought that Brady was not necessarily trying to kick Reed, but trying to make himself a bigger target in hopes of drawing a 15 yd RTP penalty. The angle above looks more like an intentional kick. Either way, a real "bitch" move.

Nobody knows what might have happened.
Hell we could have made an interception and ran it back for a TD.

True, but the point is that the Patriots didn't have that opportunity.

Except that the Patriots would have been backed up 15 yards as well, which may or may not have been better for the Ravens. I do think it was intentional and I do think Brady should be fined, but I doubt it is going to happen.

Exactly what I thought in hindsight. But at the time, it begged for something. The league won't fine him, but if you look at his other slides, none have his right leg in such a high position with a little foot kick at the end. That was completely intentional.

    Re: The Brady Kick

I watch a lot of football, therefore I see a lot of quarterbacks slide.

Not once, ever, until last night, have I seen a sliding QB's leg fly up high, spikes directed at a defender's leg.

The idea that it was "just an accident" is laughable but there are people out there trying to peddle that notion with a straight face!

To be fair the people I've heard defending it are being roundly mocked/dismissed right now. Seems most of the football viewing world (if we can very simply say that "most" is half plus one) is in agreement that this was a dirty move.
