Re: Game Thread: Wildcard Weekend: vs Indianapolis
Sorry, but no one here will ever convince me that leading with the shoulder, hitting the receiver in the numbers, and having incidental helmet contact that is part initiated by the receiver is ever a good or correct call.
There is helmet-to-helmet hitting that should be called. This was not it.

Had to leave early to avoid train hell, but it was awesome seeing Ray on his last home game.

Re: Game Thread: Wildcard Weekend: vs Indianapolis
That's not the rule though.
You are basically saying the refs should not apply the rule as it was intended.
The rule does not allow for incedental, accidental, magical or whatever term you want to use, helmet to helmet contact.
If your helmet (or forearm, or shoulder or whatever) hits the other guys helmet, the rule is that a flag should be thrown.
And that is why you should be bitching at the RULE and not the call.Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Re: Game Thread: Wildcard Weekend: vs Indianapolis
What this kind of BS is going to lead to is a lot of season-ending ACLs and leg injuries when defense players start going for the knees. Then I will have a good laugh as the NFL squirms their way through it. Ban all hits and turn it into flag football, that will do it.
