I have a feeling that we are seeing a league of guys who just don't know how to properly maintain their bodies. It's bad enough they try to go into the season cold, without much contact, and perform in a high contact sport. That's one thing I always agreed with Bart Scott about. Players have to get their bodies adjusted to the punishment.
Here is an article from last year with a quote from Harbaugh about how young players come in without the proper technique to prevent acl tears.

"Everything from defensive linemen not knowing where their eyes should be looking, not knowing where blocks are coming from," said Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. "Defensive backs not recognizing routes, not knowing how to burst, stop, start, and change direction so they don’t tear their ACLs. Offensive linemen not knowing where blitzers are coming from. Just not a lot of technique anywhere."

they don't even teach linemen 3 point stances anymore they are all 2 point stance now even in college you are seeing it. They do everything out of the gum days. I agree with Harbs on this.
The way I was coached is completely different to the way they coach, everything is about speed, the faster you can get moving the better it is to get up on an opponent. While speed is a nice asset to have it's not everything especially in the trenches, you need power and some finesse that's why we see vet D-ends still taking some of these young tackles to school because even though they are fast they lack the technique and leverage necessary.

Dean Pees expressed disappointment in himself and not his players. Said Pittsburgh did things in the running game they weren't prepared for.
:34853_baghead: Just fire Pees and put him out of his misery.

How could he "not be prepared"? For a division rival? Abject failure. You're right. A comment like that should get him fired.

It's one thing to be a clueless fuck and an idiot.
It's another level to confirm it yourself with shit like this.

Its not like he didn't prepare at all. He merely said he didn't prepare for some of the things they did. Maybe they did things we don't typically see from them, or maybe they ran concepts we weren't expecting. Half of film study is finding tendencies and trying to anticipate what a team will do in a particular circumstance.
You don't get months to prepare for a week 4 game. They literally have merely like a couple days to prepare for that. You can watch as much film as you want, and you're never going to be prepared for everything a team does on gameday.
I'm not overreacting to his comment. I think every single coordinator on every single team would say the same thing about every single game they've ever coached, because no coached is ever prepared for everything a team does.

Coaches are supposed to make in game adjustments, guess that isn't a requirement with the Ravens.
