Most of the time if you act like your supposed to be doing something, no one pays any mind. it will be interesting to see more details that come out. Like we all say here, hindsight is 20/20

If he brought the suitcases up to his room a few at a time from his car/truck, then nobody would notice. All he had to do was act normal. He is a 64 year old white guy, and so would not have been on anyone's profile list.

Exactly my point. I doubt he was walking up there with ammo cans and gun cases

We can talk about how bad this was until the next worse mass-killing happens and on-and-on.
I guess it's not the right place, but I'm trying to talk about solutions by talking about the specific problem that the US has.

Banning guns is nonsense. It never will nor should happen. But by mentioning "crazy" and drugs, you've stumbled upon part of the problem.
TMK, there's no evidence that the shooter had a mental problem, but if he did, and that and access to weaponry are the primary barriers to becoming a mass-murderer...well there are ~3 million schizophrenics alone in the US.

Outside of your own room, if you scratch your ass in a casino and it's on tape.
I really think that from security's perspective, someone repeatedly bringing stuff in over a few days doesn't trip any mental alarms...but repeatedly taking stuff out would have.

I reckon a lot of folks can't/don't want to believe that one person can cause so much carnage.
It's understandable, I guess. A bit silly considering the escalation of these mass-killings, but I get it.
LE doesn't deny it though.

I think the way Hollywood glorifies violence is a contributing factor. But I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with that.

There is a report he was prescribed anti anxiety meds this summer.

Yea that's where I was going with that earlier on in this thread. Big tipper or not that's suspect. Not to play the what if game, but say that was bomb making material. 10 freaking suit cases would have taken out an entire floor of the hotel.
We are talking about million dollars of Security here folks. Not some Red dot parking lot patrol. These folks make serious money to pick up on suspicious activity. They catch people marking cards to win. All irrelevant in a sense. He did it, so how do we solve some of the problem. I have a lot of guns banning guns is not the solution, the murders will never really stop, so I guess we have to look at the next layer of how can we at least prevent the mass part. The large mag capacity and bump stock stuff has to go. If you want the thrill of doing something like that (Thrill) than do it at a controlled gun range. No need for a 100 round magazine.

14 million.
Believe it or not, in 2013 more than 14 million Americans in the 45-64 age range were prescribed anti-anxiety drugs as per https://www.cchrint.org/psychiatric-...hiatric-drugs/
1 in every 6 of that demographic.

Was the ammonia nitrate in his car, at home? ...or in his car, parked at Mandalay?
(I haven't seen anything, but I don't know if he even drove to Mandalay. Long ride, but he may have uber'd or had a limo pick him up)
All I own is a semi handgun, but the idea of "rent-a-stock" and "rent-a-mag" is interesting.
The ones in circulation...well, probably won't be many folks turning them in, if it ever came to that.
Maybe if the USG got crazy and gave away college tuition vouchers or something.
