I know Fitzpatrick is not a free agent but he might as well be LOL. Check this out. Take it for what it's worth because the source is deadspin.
During a secretly taped phone conversation, Bills GM Buddy Nix hinted that he sees Ryan Fitzpatrick as a backup.
Nix was shooting the breeze with Bucs GM Mark Dominik, unaware that the call was being recorded. When talks reached the subject of quarterbacks, it got ugly for Fitzpatrick, who counts $10.45M against the cap. "We just can't afford to pay that kind of money for a guy who's fighting for probably a backup job," Nix said. It confirms the Bills will force Fitzpatrick to redo his deal and bring in true competition for the starting gig via the draft or free agency.
Any word on McBean?
Tony G is coming back to the Falcons. That's one old guy who is playing at an elite level. Bet the Falcons are stoked by that decision.
Willie Colon released as a June 1st designation. He carries $2.1 million in dead money in 2003 and $4.3 million dead money in 2004. Steelers continue to real in the wake of bad cap management.
Lamarr Woodley restructures. Drops his 2013 cap # to $9.1 million. His cap numbers the next three years are $12.6, $14, and $12. He still also has $14.4 in dead money left on his contract, making him uncuttable for a least two more years.
steelers cut Colon.

Texans released WR Kevin Walter, per league source.

Was that even a surprise? I thought the Bills said something to the effect last year of Ryan Fitzpatrick not being their future at QB.
To be fair, I like Fitzpatrick as a grizzled, smart, veteran backup. He's a gunslinger (I'd know, he was my fantasy backup for a bit), throws a ton of picks, but also a good amount of TDs.
If he were let go, I might want to take a look at him backing Joe up.
