Greg Roman giving play analysis
This is awful, and truly explains a lot. Starts at 1:17

Re: Greg Roman giving play analysis
At least he called it from the sideline?
TBF there's no way he would give up how they planned and ran a good, clever play, no one would because they would not want to clarify the play for opponents. This one was simple and just man on man. No secrets given up. N no clues for the enemy.

This play design was as elementary as it gets. It only worked because the safety was out of position and the flat was already covered so the TE wasn't an issue. Harvin should not have had 1 on 1 outside. Does Romans play designs always rely on someone on defense making a simple mistake lol

In all seriousness, I've stated many times that if your scheme relies of the qb being Superman, then you don't have much of a scheme.

It’s a simple play concept used by every NFL team. The QB is trained to look for where the safety moves and that cues him to who might be open. If it looks right, heave. It’s deeper analysis than most but still incredibly superficial. Just someone trying to make infotainment. Nothing to get bent over.

If ur scheme relys on having a qbs best trait as his ability to run its going to fail in the nfl.
Its just not how the game is won or played anymore. It's too easy to pass and it's never going back.
Even run heavy teams like tenn understand they are going to have to win from the pocket

How can you draw any broad conclusion? It’s just marginally closer look at a single play.
Re: Greg Roman giving play analysis
Like it or not Greg Roman is a savant and innovator when it comes to the run game and run blocking.
Now overall play design and offensive, idk but lets not disrespect a guys who is an NFL OC and has had some top offensives in this league.

He's a prime example of the Peter Principle.

How much of a run game savant are you really when your QB has to be the leading rusher for the scheme to work? A true run game savant would get this production without playing Russian roulette with your QBs health.
