Oh the horror of protecting the most innocent life possible. How could we ever live with ourselves if we allow that!?
Re: How Trump Lost an Evangelical Stalwart
It’s funny to see people posting about “the Evangelicals” as if they’re a political faction.
People believe in God and want to live a life that exemplifies His teachings. That’s it! There is no “Evangelical organization” that represents these people. There’s probably 30+ churches just in the county I live in. There isn’t a magazine or a group that speaks on their behalf here or anywhere else. That’s true for almost all religious places of worship.
“Evangelicals” is a political term given to “God fearing” people to frame them in the “identity politics” box of shit that politicians sell to the masses. A magazine’s political stance means nothing.
Ugh. The ignorance is ridiculous.

There is nothing wrong with holding that point of view or even advocating for it. The part that I object to is when evangelicals claim that their support for a particular politician is based in moral righteousness. It is not. It is solely based on a political agenda, which makes them no different than any other political faction.

Identity politics. That’s what the left does. Everyone has to be labeled.

How so? Evangelicals seem to be a fairly monolithic voting block. They will support any politician regardless of his or her moral character if that politician supports their political agenda. That is the definition of a political faction. I do not regard calling them a political faction as an insult though.

That perfectly describes every person who is extreme in their political views.
There may be people who are evangelical who are extreme in political views. But to say evangelicals and that includes everyone is just not true and kinda lazy.

Well, for evangelicals abortion is probably the most important moral issue facing us today, so, you know.
