Unfortunately for the fans of Houston the NFL cannot play a wait and see game. The decision needs to be made today, and my belief is that this game will be played in Atlanta. The NFL has already made CBS aware that they should not travel to Houston, I just heard that on ESPN 1300 in Baltimore.

    That's just silly.

The NFL was faced many hurricanes and never (sans Katrina) moved a game so far away.

I agree, but I don't know that they will be able to play this game in Houston anytime soon, so they may not have a choice.

Why don't they just move it to New Orleans, The Saints are @ Raljon this Sunday so the Super Dome is open. The storm is not supposed to impact New Orleans the way it's supposed to in Houston & this makes more sense than moving the game to Atlanta. Just a thought.

    Re: Mon night game??

Wow, the National Weather Service is taking this REALLY seriously. This is a quote from them:

    Maximum water levels forecast:

Shoreline of Matagorda and Galveston bays... 15 to 20 feet

Gulf-facing coastal areas from Matagorda to High Island including
Galveston Island... 12 to 16 feet

    Life threatening inundation likely!

All neighborhoods... and possibly entire coastal communities...
will be inundated during high tide. Persons not heeding evacuation
orders in single family one or two story homes will face certain
death. Many residences of average construction directly on the
coast will be destroyed. Widespread and devastating personal
property damage is likely elsewhere. Vehicles left behind will
likely be swept away. Numerous roads will be swamped... some may be
washed away by the water. Entire flood prone coastal communities
will be cutoff. Water levels may exceed 9 feet for more than a
mile inland. Coastal residents in multi-story facilities risk
being cutoff. Conditions will be worsened by battering waves. Such
waves will exacerbate property damage... with massive destruction
of homes... including those of block construction. Damage from
beach erosion could take years to repair.

Never have I heard them say "certain death". Sheesh!

If they move it to a neutral site, I suppose that would eliminate or severely hurt the Texans' homefield advantage - advantage Flacco.

This also means Flacco's first "real" road test would be in Pittsburgh on Monday night.

Fitting road debut if you ask me!

Get his toughest challenge out of the way early after two confidence builders... I think he'll do just fine.

WNST sent a text stating that the NFL will make an announcement today at 4:00pm regarding the game.
Pffffff! I trust wikipedia more than the NFL. If anyone would know football, it is clearly wikipedia.

As am I, that warning from the weather service was brutal, I've never seen it put so bluntly. Leave or you will die. That's tough love.

Nobody is saying leave or die ... stop with the sky falling rumors.

I just watched the latest and its still a Cat 2 storm. The only people evacuating are Galveston residents and Houston residents that sit in flood areas.
