Orioles and Adam Jones Reach Agreement...
One year deal, pays 6.15 million. The good news is they avoided arbitration, the bad news is he'll be playing somewhere else next season. :(

Re: Orioles and Adam Jones Reach Agreement...
I used to chuckle when the SunSpot posters would talk about not over-paying for players, and how they should trade away a certain player to get more prospects, because they were not 'one player away'. The idea made me chuckle, because it presents a cycle that breeds losing. The Orioles do not develop players, as well as some other teams. When they finally do develop a player or gain a player to develop, they trade him, instead of building around him, because they aren't willing to pay him to become a mainstay.
They traded Bedard with this logic. Eventually, they even traded one of the players they received for Bedard, with the same logic. Now, Adam Jones could be next, because everybody knows the Orioles won't pay him to stay long-term. So, they are really using the same logic (Or going to) for Sherill and Jones that they used for the man they traded to get Sherill and Jones.

He'll be traded by next year's All Star break.
