Ravens #7 of 32 for Head Coach Consistency

Convenient chart at Deadspin shows how the league shakes out.

Pissburgh's at the top, carried by the extremely long tenure of Chuck Noll.

Our being 7 of 32 is already impressive; it's in the top quarter. But it gets even more impressive when you consider how darn young our franchise is. No team in the history of the league has won a Super Bowl in as short a timeframe as the tenure of John Harbaugh.

You'll also notice that long tenures don't mean success. Two of the teams above us, the Titans and Eagles, have never won a Super Bowl. In fact, four of the top 10 teams have zero Lombardis. So it's not just about being loyal; it's about switching when you need to, something we've done very well.

Billick won a Super Bowl in a shorter period of time. Or am I reading what you wrote wrong?

Sir, you are correct. Billick won it in his 2d year as head coach.

I think Tomlin won in his 2nd year as well and Jimmy Johnson in his 4th and 5th yr, so I'm not sure what he meant.

Yes, I don't understand the OP statement. IIRC the Ravens went 8 - 8 in Billick's 1st season, then won Super Bowl XXXV in 2000... Bc

Tomlin, Belichick won the SB in their second year too.

Chucky won it his first year at Tampa Bay.

W/o looking it up, that has to be the shortest or at least one of the shortest time frames for a young franchise to win the SB.

That's because of all those SB chances he choked on, ala Evans and Billy Goat, like his old boss Andy Reid and getting rid of guys like Pollard and Boldin that speak out. Not even HARBs could choke in SB47 with all that talent Ozzie gave him but he blew that big lead and almost caused a bunch of heart attacks in Bmore while winning. He's never called a game. Billick did it when he fired his OC - JF.

He'd be out of football if he went to say Buff and a dozen other teams.
