FAN'S CHOICE: Ravens All-Time Team, Running Backs
We continue our pursuit of the Baltimore Ravens All-Time team. So far we have touched down on the positions of center and safety.
The plan is to carry only one center and hope that one of the guards we select has the ability to fill in at center. We’ll ask your help selecting those guards in a subsequent piece. As for center it appears from the voting thus far that Matt Birk remains the overwhelming favorite.
At safety we will carry three and so far the preferred choices are Ed Reed, Rod Woodson and Dawan Landry.
In this round we’ll tackle the tailback position. We’ll carry three featured backs and the nominees are:
Earnest Byner
Errict Rhett
Priest Holmes
Jamal Lewis
Willis McGahee
Ray Rice

Jamal Lewis and Ray Rice without a doubt.
After that it gets tough. I would choose McGahee over Holmes though. Both only had one good season in Baltimore, but McGahee had almost 200 more yards than Holmes.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Jamal and Ray locks
I chose Priest over Willis because while each only had one good season in Baltimore, Willis was more or less discarded whereas Priest just wasn't used right and was let go to an extremely productive career (3 straight years of over 1,500 yds and 62 receptions) .... so I went with Priest due to what was in the tank when they left.
Earnest, I've met and like but he was never big here. In two years we got less than 1000 of his career 8000+ yards and 51 receptions is just under 10% of his carreer total and 1 TD in 2 years.... he is kinda an "orphan" played for Browns/Skins and arrived here after his 12th year in the league, we saw him years 13 and 14 and that was a shadow of what he could do.at one point of my life I was exactly Pi years old

Lewis, Rice for sure.
McGahee > Holmes as far as what they did on the Ravens. Holmes did have a season of right around 1000 yards, but IIRC he had like 400 of that in 2 games against a really horrible Cincy team that year. Wasn't a consistent producer for us though, as someone above correctly said, OBVIOUSLY we didn't know what we had on our hands and didn't use him to his fullest.

Well, Earnest Byner is in the Ring of Honor, so...

“When I think of a Baltimore Raven - we go in there, we take your lunch box, we take your sandwich, we take your juice box, we take your applesauce, and we take your spork and we break it. And we leave you with an empty lunch. That’s the Baltimore Raven way.” - Steve Smith Sr.
