Re: Cerrato confirmed Sizzle has torn achillles
Wow, tough break. Suggs is a huge part of the rivalry. Nobody owns us like he does. Hope to see him back this year.

Re: Cerrato confirmed Sizzle has torn achillles
Agreed. The team needs to proceed as though he is not going to be there, and I have no doubt that they will. I believe that they are actually in better shape than many people think. Being buried on the depth tends to make young players hungry to prove themselves when they get the opportunity--especially on teams like the Ravens.
I'm not in the camp of folks that want to bring in a band-aid. I think the team has enough answers on the roster as it is. Are Kruger, Kindle, McAdoo, McPhee, Upshaw going to individually put up the numbers that Suggs did by himself? No. But, Could a combination of Kruger and Upshaw account for his 14 sacks? That's not out of the realm of possibility.
Suggs has had monster years back to back, but in '09 he only registered 4.5 sacks and the team still went deep in the play-offs. Kruger had 5.5 last season in limited action. With an increased role, I could see him getting an additional 1-3 sacks this season. Upshaw, Kindle, and McAdoo are admittedly unknown quantities at this point, but with the secondary being as stout as it is, they are going to have their opportunities to get to the QB.

Re: Cerrato confirmed Sizzle has torn achillles
That's a possibility for sure, and one that I would be most ecstatic about. If I remember correctly, the biggest issue he faced was learning to deal with the hearing loss and to be able to play the game without thinking too much. Time in the system is the remedy for those weaknesses. He's had the time, and now he has the shot.

Re: Cerrato confirmed Sizzle has torn achillles
I just wanted to make a few comments so, anyone, please feel free to start a debate about any of them.
First, I am sorry to hear about Terrell Suggs. Sometimes, we lose sight of how hard these athletes work for what they have.
I think that GOTA is correct in that we won't know for sure until he sees the specialist next week.
As for whether or not it happened playing basketball, which it didn't apparently, do you think Jimmy Graham and Antonio Gates suddenly stopped playing basketball once they were drafted? Do you think they never picked up another basketball again? For that matter, did you ever bother to realize that basketball might have helped them and that certain skills from that game translated well for them in the NFL?
Alright, whose playing Suggs' spot and whose playing the Sam. This all, but guarantees that Kruger and Upshaw will both be starters. Unless, one of them gets injured.
I keep trying to tell people, if you can't stop the run, you don't play in this defense for long. Its ability to make an offense one dimensional is what makes this defense so great. Osi would have to stand up here, even though Suggs spent significant time with a hand down. Plus, he can't play the run. He would only be brought in as a situational pass rusher and one year rental for their nickel packages. In that role, he would be a plus. Otherwise, you are wasting a draft pick.
YOU HAVE TO STOP THE RUN IN THIS DIVISION.
This is why this offense needs to go through Joe Flacco and why he needs better play from his WRs. The same old Rice, Rice, Flacco when we need to plan won't work if the defense can't hold teams to fifteen points anymore."Please take with you this final sword, The Excellector. Re: Suggs has Torn Achillles (Merged)
We where going in with probably the best defense on paper in the league, but it's hard to remain optimistic now, we just lost TERRELL SUGGS. I'm not saying we should wave the flag now, but we are now going to be relying on UNPROVEN players, I don't like this one bit.
It's time for Kindle, Kruger, Suggs, and possibly MacAdoo to step up!

Y'all better temper your expectations of Kindle.
I've watched this kid since he was a freshmen. That's the benefit of having a Longhorn uberfan for a wife.
You can't fix stupid.

Re: Cerrato confirmed Sizzle has torn achillles
The thing is with hearing loss, a lot of times it is not permanent. Im assuming we'd hear whether or not his hearing is better, but if we dont, his hearing could be much improved 2 years later.
Also, Michael McAdoo is looking much better right now.
We Basically have 2 1st round OLB's(fell to the 2nd) in sergio and courtney. Im excited to see them get their chance.
He hasnt had any issues in a while and theirs no denying his talent.

This sucks but this is why I personally never ASSUME that any player in this case Suggs will make it to the regular season healthy because you never know who you will lose to injury etc but best case scenario he could be back in 6 months(November) because the injury is usually 6-12 month recovery.

Re: Suggs has Torn Achillles (Merged)
This reminds me of the time that a poster came on to the board (I can't remember if it was this one or SunSpot), early one Friday morning, saying that a friend of his knew that Sergio Kindle was partying hard down at a famous Texas block, got drunk and fell down two flights of stairs.
Everyone blasted him until, three hours later, main sources started picking up on it."Please take with you this final sword, The Excellector. I am praying that your journey will be guided by the light", Leon Shore
