Just being outcoached. You guys can look down your noses at the "gimmick" plays of the Pats, but right now they are running the Ravens D ragged.

Good question. And since the ball wasn't snapped to him, what's the difference between him moving his hands and Ray Rice moving his hands when Flacco gets the snap in the shotgun?

Yup, if it was anybody but fucking Brady or Peyton doing that it would be a personal foul. Actually, Peyton would never do that because he has class.

Open it up Caldwell. Cowher is right. Don't leave it on the field.

I don't understand the Pees hate at this point. Holding the Patriots to 13 points when your defense was out there for basically the entire half is nothing to be ashamed of. The only call of his I have issue with is having Kruger in coverage on Hernandez. Simply can't happen, no matter what. I'm okay with Kruger in coverage here and there but not on the Patriots primary offensive weapon.

I think the special teams is more to blame. It's hard when you start inside your 15 every drive. The Patriots probably score 3 or less points if we switched field position.

Re: Game Thread: Conference Weekend: vs New England

To put some perspective on a controversial "1st down run call"...

They are playing cover-2 deep, which is predominately being used to take away the deep ball. So, Flacco is looking to check down to the slot, flats, and short middle...which is why Torrey is the only receiver with a reception right now. The Pats are doing a real good job at taking away that deep pass. In order for the offense to get the safeties to start cheating up and/or bite on some play actions, they have to run the ball a fair amount and they have to get the ball out into the flats to give Rice/Pierce/Leach/Pitta some space to move the chains. Once they can get a couple of successful string of plays together doing that, then the safeties will start cheating up.

Once the safeties start cheating up, then they can take a couple of shots down field.

The big thing that I've seen so far has just been poor execution from the receivers. Jacoby slipping, Boldin not getting open, Pitta dropped a pass that hit him in the hands, and Dickson dropped a pass that hit him in the hands.

Not 14-13. And right now we are projected to finish with 14 points. If we win, it will be because our offense steps up. Our defense cannot possibly do any more than it did, considering our talent and the offensive competition.
