Yeah, with him and Gonzalez both out, the pitching depth Duquette has built up will be tested. I don't think Gausman comes up yet, but Steve Johnson and Garcia will both get another chance. Time to step up.

This has been a rough week. Big Yankees series coming up. I'm a little worried!

Baseball can be unpredictable due to the quantity of games played through the season. the O's are a tough team and represent what the charm city is all about, but we WILL go through slumps. I'm happy if we stay .500

    Can you say Jeffrey Maher?

Like I posted at top of thread back in Apirl, same old Os vs Yanks with the same losing results.

Yanks bull pen comes thru while ours crash. I thought our pitcher would come out by the
    3rd inning.

Six game losing streak for Os makes it even worse.

    Yikkkeeeeeeeeeeeesssssss

    Finally.

We get one. Great game to watch.

3-2 and in extra innings again. This time their pen caved in.

2 out 3 from the Yanks. After a brutal stretch of home losses they find themselves 3 games back. Os to Toronto. Yankees to Tampa Bay. The AL East is going to be bloodbath this season.

Two of three from the AL central leaders. What's the excuse for these wins?

Re: Same old Orioles of 15 losing years

I couldn't disagree more with the premise of this thread. This isn't the "same ol' Orioles" of the losing years. They haven't been roughly since Buck took over the manager's job. Whatever has happened, these Birds come to play ball day in and day out.

Starting pitching is a big concern, though the future looks bright with Gausman. I even like the fact he didn't have success his first two outings: we've already seen how he handles adversity at this level. He seems a level-headed kid who generally has confidence in his stuff. He showed poise in tough situations and got himself out of jams, even in losing efforts.

The bullpen hasn't been what it was last year, but it's still pretty solid. JJ, despite his recent troubles, is still reliable over the long haul. Whatever mental issues he's had/has will get worked out. I don't know what the diagnosis is with Strop, though. It's a shame, because when he's right, he's real right.

The rest of the bullpen is pretty typical bullpen: some more reliable than others, all of them capable of giving you a good inning or so from time to time. Figuring out who to put out there is Buck's job, and there isn't anyone better in baseball, imo. He's proven it over the last couple of years if he hadn't established it already.

I don't know if they'll make the playoffs again, but this team is going to give us another enjoyable ride this year.

What I like about this club is their completeness...

You've got major power in Chris Hardy
You've got stellar D in Machado, Adam Jones, Wieters
    You've got speed in McLouth

And this is a group of guys that loves to have fun.

If the pitching was a hair better, this team would be near perfect.

Os 1 game back in the loss column.

Baltimore has won 13 of its last 17 games against Boston and 23 of 32. They took the season series, 13-5, in 2012.

    Same old Orioles?

(oh yeah...Baltimore also knocked the Patriots out of the playoffs...Beantowners should be grateful we don't have a hockey team)
