    Re: Ravens sign Jacoby Jones

I think streeter will get a chance to play but only in certian situations and this all depends on how he does in camp and pre season. Remember last camp/pre season Cary williams went from a bubble player to starter. I think Jones with be the KR and deep threat. Whereas Streeter will start as a red zone and deep threat. Jones is the Veteran WR the Ravens said they will sign. He may just be a KR and we dont know the terms of the deal so it could be in our favor where we can cut him even before the season or after the season and take little or no hit. I still believe Reed is out and Streeter is the 5th or 6th WR. Heck with a strong camp/ pre season streeter can become the 3 or 4 WR. But right now unless he plays well in camp pre season i expect him to not dress most games and when he does be an red zone target.

Don't understand the meh on this. He wasn't a bad receiver and surrounded by Torrey and Anquan, he can thrive here.

    I like this move.

He's a pretty explosive player but that is a lot of money for him IMO. I was thinking a cheap 1 year deal at first. I think he can contribute at WR and at least we didn't sign some aging, declining WR again.

WR is one of the positions where camp and pre season will tell a lot regarding the depth chart behind Boldin and Smith, you could argue we dont know who the 3-6 WRs will be as of right now. The other 2 being DE and Primary Back up RB. Everything else is almost set.

I don't think he'll do any more here than in Houston, where he played opposite Andre Johnson.

People are undervaluing dude because of that preposterous muff he had against us last year. He might fuck up on occasion, but the man can be a game changer on ST. Had 5 punt returns of 40+ yards last year (for comparison, Hester had 3 and the Ravens as a whole had just one) and was 3rd overall in total punt return yardage. And while I wouldn't expect too much of a contribution from him on offense, he does have upside there and theres never anything wrong with another potential deep threat

At least it takes Webb out of return duties.

Well, I'm wrong yet again. I was certainly not expecting this move at all, nor do I much like it.

Jacoby Jones is one of the least physical WRs in the league and seems like a bad fit for this offense. He did absolutely nothing opposite Andre Johnson for 5 years in Houston, but at least he's somewhat of a vertical threat.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-million-deal/

    5 years in Texas (75 games) = 127 receptions, 1,741 yards (13.7 avg) 11 TDs.

With extensive return experience, he looks like a good #3 WR to me.

It will allow Doss, LQ Wms, and Streeter to develop... Bc

    Yuck. Hate this move.

The Ravens miss the Super Bowl because of a dropped pass and so they sign a guy who has a history of underperforming and making mistakes in big spots. I just don't get it.

By the way where did they get the cap space to do this deal and the 2 DTs?

If we're signing him with primarily return duties in mind, it's a good move. We've needed a return specialist for a LONG time.

To be fair, he was without Johnson and had TJ Yates throwing him the ball for much of last year (I still don't think he'll be much of a factor on offense)
