    How bad is this?

I'm torn, I think some people will agree with him, but will it turn just as many off?

Well, it's not what we think at this point. It's not going to stop the media from using it to try and continue their "Kill Romney" campaign to re-election Barack Obama. Remember it's the same media that has not said a fucking WORD about Obama's "Egypt is not our Ally" gaffe. But NBC has already jumped all over this.

Truth? Romney is dead on. And I KNOW people that don't give a rats ass what bad things Obama has done in this term. Doesn't even matter if they are doing worse, or if they are a Jew like me watching Obama drive the bus over Israel and then back it up and do it again. They will vote for Obama because they either have a cushy government job, are dependent on the government, or just because they believe the bullshit the media and the administration feeds them.

Not a single one of these people I know can note anything Obama did that was good. Not a thing. They just regurgitate the same old talking points about Romney that when pressed for specifics they cannot even come up with.

But again, it doesn't matter what we think. It's going to matter how smart the rest of country is outside of Maryland, California, and New York. I have long since given up on Maryland.

    Hammer meets nail!

I think when all the manufactured outrage dies down and people actually think about it, they'll realize he's absolutely right (And that's from 2009!). And they're tired of it.

I'm still saying that Romney wins big. This might even put the nail in the coffin!

That's why I'm writing my own name in as a write-in vote, so
please vote for me for President of the USof A-lol. My name is
as good as any name to waste your vote on.

Besides, our votes don't count in Maryland anyway. The DEM
always gets its 11 electoral votes.

I've given up on the rest of the country. The polls being this
close favors the incumbent and the 23M unemployed and under-employed are blaming Bush not OBY who wins by a whisker in the popular and a by a little more in the electoral vote.

In the end, it won't matter.

Where he failed was the hasty press conference after that fact. He walked back on his stance instead of doubling down.

Even more troubling is the media yet again. They are literally ignoring everything that's going on against Obama and highlighting everything that's going wrong for Romney.

It's not deemed important by Fox:

A friend on Facebook said it neatly: "I think housing and food are basic human rights to which everyone is entitled by virtue of being human. Doesn't have to be a nice house or fancy food, just a level below which we shouldn't allow our fellow human beings to fall no matter how contemptible they may be."

    He walked it back...?

I didn't see the press conference but, I watched news show to see how bad they were pouncing on it, and they said he didn't walk it back.

    Your friend is wring.

There is a difference between a right to something and something being a right.

You have aright to those things, you do not have a right for them to be provided to you by others a t no cost.

He "clarified" his remarks, saying "they were accurate, not elegant".

I am sure his presser is online somewhere. Watched CNN and FNC, both characterized it was walking back his comments, and rightfully so.

He should have doubled down on them.

And thus is the fatal flaw with Europeans and their view of America.

Europeans, for the most part, live in a society that's way left of American in terms of social policy, thus is does not register to them what is guaranteed in America is the opportunity for success. But then when something like Greece happens, they sit around and scratch their heads and wonder where all the money went, as if it's an infinite number.

The founders of this country believed ... no, they KNEW .... that sucking from the public trough would lead to an apathetic society who, instead of doing for themselves, turn to government for all their needs. That's not the proper function of Government.

Alexis de Tocqueville saw this way back in the 1800's, when he said "Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude".

I much prefer to live in a land that teaches you how to fish than one that simply gives you the fish at someone else expense.

    I watched it on RCP.

I agree he clarified, I'm not sure he walked them back... but he damn sure didn't double down, which you're right I think he should have done.

He also said this. SPOT ON.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”
