Who was YOUR top players from 2012?

    Ahhh offseason...

Since the NFL is doing something similar I thought it'd be kind of fun to see what some of the posters on here think.

Toss up your top 10 players from 2012, give a small explanation on your selections if you want, intelligently disagree with others, etc.

Break it down into positions (I think that's an easier comparison) and go from there.

Pretty much agree with all of them, apart from you have to add Jason Peters to the Oline list.

Re: Who was YOUR top players from 2012?

    My other lists.

    RB's:
    10. Frank Gore, San Francisco
    9. Ryan Matthews, San Diego
    8. Adian Peterson, Minnesota
    7. Fred Jackson, Buffalo
    6. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle
    5. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia
    4. Arian Foster, Houston
    3. Ray Rice, Baltimore
    2. Maurice-Jones Drew, Jacksonville
    1. Matt Forte, Chicago

    QB's:
    10. Joe Flacco, Baltimore
    9. Mike Vick, Philadelphia
    8. Jay Cutler, Chicago
    7. Phillip Rivers, San Diego
    6. Peyton Manning, Denver
    5. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh
    4. Drew Brees, New Orleans
    3. Eli Manning, New York Giants
    2. Tom Brady, New England
    1. Aaron Rogers, Green Bay

RB's- For me, Matt Forte is the best all around back in the league right now. He came up short in 2011 because of an injury, but he is a very big back at 6'2 and can get you those short yards. However he can also do everything Foster and Rice can do, he is a great receiving back, and can break away like Foster can. MJD comes up just short, but is also an all around back. Rice and Foster are identical in value, but Rice can change a game around like no other back in the league (see both Bengals games).

Ryan Matthews is entering his third season, and had a promising 2011 year. I think this will truly be his break out year, if he can keep those fumbles down, he has all the potential to become a top 5 back in the league IMO. Frank Gore has been a work horse for the 49ers for years now, but he is starting to wear down, this was evident towards the end of the season and in the play offs, still a solid back. Adrian Peterson had a serious injury half way through the season, so I don't know if he will ever be the best back in the league again.

The QB list is not soley based on stats or wins, or SB wins. It is everything mixed together. My top 6 have all won SB's but have also had great statistics to show for it. The next 4 guys have been to big games, won play off games, but haven't quite made it over the hump to the SB yet, or don't exactly have amazing statistics (in Flacco's case). I left out some of the younger guys like Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford, and Cam Newton, despite how many yards they have thrown for. Matt Ryan and Matthew Stafford both have very good receivers and both play in a dome, and Cam Newton still has a lot to prove and needs more wins.

Leach I don't agree with Forte over MJD. MJD is the Jaguars whole offense. Team's stacked the box against the man every game all game because the Jags have no passing attack and he still leads the league in rushing. Doing what he did under the circumstances deserve made respect. It begs the question if he can do that when defenses only focus on him, what would he do when the defense was forced to game plan for someone else?

Didn't Forte also miss a good chunk of the season? It wasn't just missing some time it was a bunch of games. Anyone remember when he ended up in the IR?

But the Jags offensive line was also pretty solid too, the Bears offensive line couldn't block shit, and Forte still ran all over every team he played.

Did they look good because they are good or because MJD made them look good? I am going with the latter. The Jags gave up 44 sacks last year. That's not much less than the Bears. I think the Jags have so many issues on offense, that the OL gets ignored but their OL isn't very good either. We'll see this season.

Yeah, he missed 4 games (only 1 more than Foster) but imo that only hurts the case that he's the best. Part of being the best is being able to stay healthy. It's one of the reason's I'd take Rice and MJD over a lot of other RB's that might put up better numbers. They are dependable.
