Re: Patriots D
Oher is RT this year, not LT like last year. Most pass rushers took his lunch money when he was LT, lol.

Re: Patriots D
The problem with your analysis is scoring.
Pats allow 411yds per game during the regular season, but only allow 21pts per game. So out of the 5 potential scoring drives (80yd drive/411yds = 5), teams only scored 3 times. Why?
Turnovers. Pats are +17 Third most in the NFL only behind the niners and packers.
Despite the hand-wringing, Joe played a top 5 defense and didn't turnover the football (though he and Rice fumbled once each, the Ravens recovered).
If Joe plays in a similar manner this weekend, the Pats lose. After 5 years of early exits, the journey is finally complete.

Re: Patriots D
This is the fastest & youngest the pats D has been in more than a decade. Not sure where you get the idea they're slow beyond the size of the DL & LB's.
Pats have been playing more zone than man for years, hence the reason BB refuses to pay top dollar for corners.
If they are so slow, how'd they hold Rice to 88yds last year? How do they seem to gang tackle most of the time?

LBs Mayo and Spikes and Ninkovich are decent players but "fast" is not a word that pops to mind. Spikes is especially slow.

Re: Patriots D
That is a very interesting point. The Packers and the Patriots really have the overall model. They get ahead and then create turnovers when the other team is pressing to catch up. The difference with the Pats is they don't seem to mind being down early and having to play catch up themselves. Instead of having to play with a lead the whole game the Pats are able to get that lead in the 2nd quarter or even 2nd half.
Getting ahead and staying ahead once they get that lead will be essential for the Ravens. That's exactly what worked for them last week and every win all they way back to the Thanksgiving game against the 49ers which was tied at 6-6 going into the 4th Quarter. If the Ravens get 2 scores down and start pressing they're going to turn the ball over and lose.

Re: Patriots D
The last time the Pats played the Ravens Welker was not in the game (out for season) and of course Gronk and Hernandez where in college. This is a completely different situation.

Re: Patriots D
Problem then is Brady had not much options in the short pass game then. He had to wait for Moss to go down field. That gave the Ravens time to get to Brady. Problem for the Ravens now ( I think) is that Brady will not have to wait any more. With Welker, Gronk, and Hernandez he can throw almost instantly and who is going to cover thos three guys? I also did not add Branch or even Ocho to that list. I am very curious to see what the Ravens attempt to do with this match up. To say its challenging is an understatement. This offence was in its infantcy early in the season, and evolving. Was not the same when the Stoolers came to town.
QUOTE=chicagoravensfan;405709]It's correct that Welker, Gronk and Hernandez did not play in the playoff game in '09 but they did have a guy named Randy Moss. The Ravens corners in that game were Dominique Foxworth, Chris Carr (when he was still mostly a punt returner), Frank Walker and Corey Ivy.[/QUOTE]
