Pees will be calling plays from the press box now
I dont know if it has been mentioned here yet, but Peas was up in the press box during the cleveland game. Harbs said that after the Houston meltdown, Peas decided he would fair better calling the defense from the press box. And the plan is to keep doing that going forward.
I cant recall any of our former coordinators calling games from the box and was wondering what you guys thought about it.

Re: Peas will be calling plays from the press box now
I heard Harbaugh mention this in his presser today. I don't have a problem with it per se. He has all of his assistants on the field and can call in anything he needs to. If it helps him guide the defense more effectively I say do it.

They wanted Cam to do the same thing a season or so back, IIRC, but he insisted staying on the sidelines. As usual, he got his way.

Dick Nolan usually works from the press-box. I don't recall if he did when he coached here though.

Maybe that will give him a better view of what's happening on the field?

It was his idea ....

Plenty of coordinators do it. I don't see this as a big deal.

I think the defense played better sunday, so if that was the effect of seeing the field better than im all for it. I could care less where he is, its about the product on the field.

Alot of coaches do it. If it helps he call the defensive more effectively I'm all for it.

Sounds good to me.
He sees things real time, rather than from pictures sent down to look at.
He doesn't look to be an emotional firebrand who can contribute energy on the sideline, and there are enough vet leaders to do "coaching" on the field and sideline.
So no problem with where he calls from, and up there may be a far better vantage point for 'bend but don't break' philosophy.at one point of my life I was exactly Pi years old

Does he still have direct communication with the Mike or is he relaying down to the sidelines to someone else? Anyone know?
