Re: Congress votes to freeze pay
Well, at least give credit to 72 of them that crossed over but I remember Nixon freezing pay and prices and
said, "THERE'S A LITTLE KEYNESIAN IN ALL OF US."
Not too cool of a thing for a conservative to say,and from a guy who signed the toughest
environmental act at that time. Liberals still
use it to stop drilling and from the same guy
that brought Mao out of the dark ages just
to piss off Russia.
That one bit us in the ass as China now owns us.
BTW, do you think Nixon's unprecedented wage freeze worked, which was applauded by many economists and politicians.
The 90 day freeze turned into nearly 1,000 days of measures known as Phases One, Two, Three, and Four. The initial attempt to dampen inflation by calming inflationary expectations was a monumental failure as
inflation rose to double digits and there was only 1
war going on in 71 that caused inflation. There are 2 wars now with a third one looming in Iran.

Add in the inflation caused by record spending still going on that is un-related to wars and this measure
to curb inflation will be an even bigger monumental
flop than Nixon's but Keynesians will love it.
