Re: What's the chances of us landing Manti Teo in the draft?

That Ziggy Ansah guy, out of BYU, is starting to get a lot of hype. A real physical freak like JPP, might push his stock into the first round...

Teo is a great fit in both a 3-4 and 4-3 scheme. Luke Kuechly went 8 overall to Carolina, but has surprisingly struggled this year after a strong start. I hope it doesn't happen because I really want him, but if he carries on playing this well, and if he has a strong combine, he's going in the top 5. So that means we could be looking for a 5 tech or a DT, in which case we'll just take the BPA, then hope to get a CJ Moseley in the second round. I really like John Jenkins btw, he reminds me of Vince Wilfolk with the way he's built, but he can move like Wilfolk too.
    Good point about Kuechly.

Kuechly shot up the boards after an outstanding combine. If T'eo can have a combine like that (which he certainly could) then I could absolutely see a team willing to spend a top 15 pick on him. He's a fantastic prospect, but I don't know if he can put up numbers like that and I think a lot of teams may only view him as a 3-4 ILB. We'll see. I'd love to have him in a Ravens uniform and honestly I think if they want him then they will have to trade up for him regardless.

That said, I still think maybe going DT or 5-technique DE in round 1 and then looking at ILB and OL the next couple of rounds.

Michael Mauti and Gerald Hodges are two LB's to keep an eye on. Both guys are at Penn State. Hodges reminds me of Navorro Bowman or Darryl Washington. He plays fast, he hits hard, he tackles well, and he has a ton of upside.

I wonder if it might not behove the Ravens to build up a rotation of DEs/OLBs to keep an effective passrush going. The lack of passrush has been an issue for years now and is really being exposed by the inability to get off the field on third down. If something can be done about that it could make a big difference to our fortunes on the road.

    That's what the Giants do.

They really don't have anyone outside of Suggs who can consistently rush the passer.

Last year the Ravens did well with Kruger and McPhee rotating in on passing downs (along with a healthy Suggs). Perhaps these two guys are better suited to be "specialists" than full-time players (?) ... Bc

    I would certainly say so.

Problem is they don't really have anyone else who can be an every down OLB other than Suggs. I guess Upshaw is getting there.

May as well develop Upshaw into that guy, he's already a good run defender, and has learned the playbook really quickly for a rookie.
