The NFL is one big fucking joke.
I'm sure rooney has a hand in getting Reed suspended. Ravens beat his team and the refs couldn't help the steelers score. Nfl has always looked the other way with the steelers( how many defensive players were wrestled to the ground last night by the steelers oline?).

James Harrison got suspended last year for that missile shot on McCoy...According to ESPN, his "rap sheet" was "Harrison's hit on McCoy was his fifth illegal hit against a quarterback in the past three seasons. In addition to the fines he has received for hits on quarterbacks, he also has been fined twice more for unnecessary roughness for other hits during that time period."

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I think the defense is better without him out there. I have heard the stats, but it is hard to measure his blown coverages, poor tackling attempts, and how many of his plays were recoveries where he gave up big yardage and ran the receiver down. He should be situational like Ray Lewis. BTW, I think we are better without Ray too, but not by much.

Wow, unbelievable for you to say that. Are you a troll?

I stand corrected, but my point is still valid. 2 other players and now Reed. You are telling me that Ed Reed is one of the 3 dirtiest players in the NFL? thats total horse shit

This is the PC version the NFL likes to espouse, but the policy has Goodell's hands all over it. I'd say there is a 99.9% chance that Goodell got an email about this and approved of it this morning.

The NFL is really becoming a disgusting politcally correct league run by a bunch of bureaucrats who want to have ultimate control over all aspects of the game.

I love watching football & enjoy going to games, but it is getting real old real fast with all of this nonsense.

Let's see. I call Reed a thug. You call me a troll. I guess you win. The only problem with your winning is that is Reed still can't tackle. You must have some other keen insight that the rest of us lack!

is there any way to look up which players have committed the most personal fouls? It would be interesting to see where Ed would be on a list like that

If you want to say Ed can't tackle fine. But was it really necessary to call him a thug? You cross a line with that comment.

Stupid rule. The vast majority of these hits are precipitated through incidental contact. The Steelers have been called for these types of hits quite a bit under the same circumstances. It is not like these guys are running around with their heads down. I can't imagine the frustration of the players. I hope he can appeal and play next week.

    Steve Wyche ‏@wyche89

Reporting: according to the NFL, Ravens S Ed Reed has notified the league of his intent to appeal suspension. Cottrell or Shell will hear.

Typical. A player for another team is labeled as "dirty." While the player from the your team is being targeted. He did not have a "special helmet" made so he could keep leading with this head. I must have missed that headline. Did you watch the play in which he got hurt? I bet not. You would just make another outlandish statement.

I mentioned in previous reply to this thread that these penalties and fines are too much. These players are not dirty, these helmet to helmet hits are just a result of the dynamics of plays that happen in tenths of second. Thees players are expecting to hit with their shoulders, like they have been trained to do since peewee. Now they have to change their game. This is going to take years to trickle down to the peewees and then backup to the pros. Ed Reed should not be fined or suspended. There is no proof he had malicious intent. Goodell is wrong. Totally wrong in this. Ed must be beside himself.

I knew whwn they suspended harrison it would eventually bite others. Harrison had a rep for malicious hits, defenseless hits, late hits, but the league suspended him for 3 hits without noting the nature of such. Reeds not known for those things and as a db hes going to be in positions where its more likely. Hopefully he wins the appeal but the ground work was already in place. It may sound homerish, but i dont think theres much argument in the difference between harrson and reed. Reed apologizes on the field directly after, harrison defended it saying "theyd rather me hit their head than their knees." the league messed this one up by making harrison an example by any means.

The nfl has officially jumped the shark.
