Everybody wants to crap on Reed, but in reality, despite a couple big hits, Pollard has taken a step back in sure tackling as well.
That complete whiff on Leftwich is unlike anything I've seen from a supposed big "enforcer" type of safety.Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

You can just see that Pittsburgh knew exactly what was coming there; they show blitz, Flacco goes to the hot read, and Pitta was DOUBLE COVERED. Everyone and their mother knew who the ball was going to there.
