Re: Peas will be calling plays from the press box now
It's about perspective and feel.
OCs and DCs do it and have switched from one to the other across their careers.
Personally, I could never coordinate from the sidelines. Can't see isht lol

Re: Peas will be calling plays from the press box now
Honestly I think it is a good move. I mean when they watch the coaches tape it is the ALL 22 films, so being in that position gives a better perspective. I make maps for a living. If you were to put a wall map on a table and rest your head on the edge, you'd see about 25% if not less. Standing up, you would see everything.
Personally I think both OC and DCs would be better served up there.

Re: Peas will be calling plays from the press box now
I think most coordinators call plays from the press box. If Cam did that he might see that there is a big space in the middle of the field that he can use for wr routes.

Re: Peas will be calling plays from the press box now
He probably has a better view from upstairs, but he would probably get a better feel for the emotion of the field and the game from the sidelines.

Well I guess this change is off to a good start. Perhaps a view from above will provide him better insight into our defensives woes.

Re: Peas will be calling plays from the press box now
Mike Nolan did it but everyone else has been on the field including fat Rex who by being on the field for the 2007 NE game had the ability to call time out and.........the rest is history.

I still would like to know if he communicates directly to the player(s) or to someone on the sideline. Who sits down with the D and talks about schemes, adjustments, etc if he's in the booth?
