Very true, maybe make them work on shifting their protection

On a series note, maybe they bring him back preseason style?

If Suggs steps on the field and suits up, you can bet your bottom dollar that the Ravens know what they're doing, so I wouldn't worry about it, they and their medical staff know a lot more about the injury than any of us who have been speculating through the past months, and 95 % of us have been wrong on our speculation too, as nobody even really thought of Suggs returning early November, let alone this week.

Maybe a partially torn achillies isn't as serious as we all thought.

He's definitely got some extra weight on him, which is understandable. Not sure how it will affect him on the field, but I'm sure he'll drop it regardless.

If he does play sunday, I'm sure it will be in a very limited role. No way do they just throw him out there with only a week of practice.

If he plays, it will strictly be as a pass rush specialist.

If he does that, I'd be shocked if he's effective.

All that said, he'll be a major boost simply because even 50% Suggs commands a double team which frees at least some of our linebackers and ends to beat one man.

    Re: Welcome back TSizzle!

They reported on 105.7 that all of his relatives were buying tickets to the Houston game to watch his return... I'm still highly skeptical of him playing this weekend- I just think it would be dumb after only have 1 week of practice, and with him looking so out of shape (definitely lots of phat on his ass and belly) but even like that he will be a big improvement AFTER he's had a few weeks to get aclimated to football shape- it just seems that he'd be much more exposed to pulling/straining something while trying to go from 0-60 in 4 freakin days. I think he needs at least 2-3 solid weeks of practice before they risk him and allow him to try to be a hero.

We need to go out and try to win this game on *offense* this week. I thought Glen Clark at WNST made a good point yesterday- Defensive players don't make as big of a difference (in their absence) as offensive players- especially the QB, obviously. His argument centered on the fact that even though the Ravens have been without the BEST defensive player in the NFL, we are still 5-1, but if it was our QB, it would clearly be a much different case to this point. He also pointed to the 5-6 weeks that Ray was out last year, and we still won all but 1 of those games. 1 or 2 defensive players can be schemed around (to compensate)- but missing a big offensive threat is a much bigger issue for teams to overcome and make a run in the playoffs.

Suggs should be eased back into play, and should NOT be on the field this week- we've done fine without him, and he will be much better off if he is put on the field when he's been acclimated to the football field.

All due respect, but you're not a doctor. You can say that he shouldn't play all you want but I trust the Ravens staff more than any of you people.

It really doesn't take long at all to get into football shape, especially for an edge rusher. RB's are different, but it would not surprise me to see Suggs back closer to his old weight in 2-3 weeks. Cardio really isn't that hard to train.

:word If Suggs plays, it's because he has the blessing of the coaching staff and doctors.

Which is what I was saying earlier. People can whine and bitch all they want, but at the end of the day if they are truly going to play Suggs this Sunday, they obviously KNOW what they're doing, and know that he wont be at risk as much as we think. I trust the Ravens medical staff a ton more than what anyone says here.
