    Steeler' riods again?

Say it isn't so. They would never do that. "Come here James it's time for your vitamin shot" "Ryan you are next and Lawernce don't go far"

PITTSBURGH -- A doctor released from the Pittsburgh Steelers medical staff five years ago after investigators questioned his bulk purchase of anabolic steroids has been indicted for illegally prescribing the muscle-building aids.

Authorities are not listing the team or any of its players as among the recipients.

Dr. Richard Rydze, 62, is expected to appear before a federal magistrate Friday.

Rydze left the Steelers in June 2007. The FBI accuses him of conspiring to distribute steroids and human growth hormone from September 2007 through March 2011. He also is charged with illegally prescribing painkillers during a slightly longer time frame -- including a few months when he was still with the team.

A Steelers spokesman declined to comment Friday. In 2007, team president Art Rooney II said Rydze denied giving players steroids.

That to me says he was released after he was questioned. Just saying... Front Office taking out the trash before it overflows. Steriod speculation and Steelers. They got away with it in the 70's why not try it in 00's when the team did produce a SB in almost 30 years.

Normally when you are questioned about something it is not the first time.

    Dumb question.

Is steroids and hgh illegal? Or is it just distribution of them to professional sports people?

It's not a subject I know a lot about apart from they are banned the world of professional sport.

It's a tricky situation, like all pharma abuse. They can be prescribed legally, but there are huge markets for illegal distribution. Go to google and search "the man whose arms exploded," and watch the videos. That sheds some light on steroid abuse and its inherent dangers and illegalities.

They may be prescribed legally but they still can't use them in the NFL, even if prescribed.

But of course the NFL does not test for HGH, which means this type of investigation is the only way a player could be caught, and even with this, there is NO Way of actually showing a guy like James Harrison actually took HGH even if this Doctor prescribed it to him.

You have to believe nearly every player in the NFL takes HGH

Right. I was more addressing his question about the legality of steroids in general.

They're legal for medical purposes but regulated just the same. Cocaine is also legal for medical, mainly surgical uses, but if you order a truckload it's going to raise some questions.

Corticosteroids are used routinely to treat injury and inflammation. Anabolic steroids which are testosterone derivatives are forbidden. At one time anabolics were normal prescriptions but in the eighties they became controlled substances.

Deca Durabolin (nandrolone decanoate) is the premier anabolic as it is an injectable, has less side effects than any of the others, and is not metabolized in the liver.

It is a big black market item but closely watched. Back when I was a sales manager we had many different types of accounts try and buy it including the Miami police Department weight training program.

They are legal for personal use in a lot of places. Britain I believe is one. Not sure about Canada or Mexico but they have a lot looser drug laws than the US. Any pro baller that wants to can take an overseas vacation and cycle for a few months in the off season. I don't think its a big coincidence that a lot of the MLB users were Dominican.
