I would rather the defense take more chances on third down with blitzes and press man. That leaves them vulnerable to the QB scramble but what we are doing now is not working.

This is the worst the defense has looked in years. Even worse than the Mattison years.

In both of Mattison's years, the defense ranked 3rd in pts allowed - the same as Rex the year before, and the same as Pagano the year after.

This year's defense doesn't look even remotely that good.

Not having Suggs is a problem, of course, but that's just more reason to rush 5+ in spots. You might as well just play a dime and drop 9 if you are going to rush 3/4 with guys like Jones and Kindle on the field.
