The Pseudo-Science of Fact Checking Sites
I found this today and it's a great read ....

I never really trusted those fact check sites and when I started dating (and eventually marrying) someone who speaks fluent German, I became even more skeptical.
The reason my wife came into the decision is because of snopes.com explanation of Kennedy's famous "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech. Over dinner one night I asked her about it and she said he most certainly did call himself a jelly doughnut and that sites like Snopes has it all wrong. Keep in mind, my wife is a former Peace Corp allum and is a proud liberal. I have been taking German lessons as well and learned early on the same conclusion.
Since then, I have given these sites a grain of salt. There still is no substitute to do your own research.
