Any interest in DE Darryl Tapp?
Consideering that Ryan McBean is on IR, Tapp may be a decent replacement.
Darryl Tapp could be the odd man out among Eagles DEs
Posted by Darin Gantt on August 28, 2012, 11:21 AM EDT
The Eagles have a problem other teams aren’t as fortunate to have, one that could give them flexibility in the next week. They actually have more pass-rushers than they have room for, and could end up moving veteran Darryl Tapp as a result, according to Bob Grotz of the Delaware County Times. The Eagles are a solid five-deep at defensive tackle, and have six defensive ends who have proven themselves productive. Beyond Jason Babin and Trent Cole, they have young players Brandon Graham, Phillip Hunt and Vinny Curry, leaving Tapp as possibly the odd man out, or trade bait.

Very similar player to Courtney Upshaw. Tapp is a lot quicker though.
I'd be interested in him as a replacement for Kindle.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: Any interest in DE Darryl Tapp?
My question would be, does he project as a 3-4 LB or is he only a 4-3 DE. He would be responsible for a lot here that the Eagles may not have asked him to do. Does anybody remember him coming out of college to answer that?

Re: Any interest in DE Darryl Tapp?
He's pretty much only been a 4-3 DE.
However, if he is brought in to provide depth and replace Kindle, it wouldn't be too bad IMO.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: Any interest in DE Darryl Tapp?
I'd be interested... he's got a good body type and build for our scheme if he can transition to OLB at all. He'd probably be playing mostly in the nickel anyway with his hand in the dirt a good bit of the time.
This wouldn't be a bad pickup at all. Only question is, do the Ravens need to make a trade or can they wait and see if he's cut? Obviously they shouldn't be giving up anything more than a late-rounder.

Re: Any interest in DE Darryl Tapp?
The Eagles are going to try and trade him first according to the article. I wonder if there will be any takers? If he is cut, then I would think the Ravens would have a good shot at him given Harbaugh's connections in Philly. Tapp is in his 7th season, so he was there when Harbaugh was the ST coach. As a young player, Tapp probably played a lot on special teams.

Re: Any interest in DE Darryl Tapp?
The issue with Tapp is he just doesn't get sacks. I don't think he can pressure like McPhee does. He's a good player but does he have the skills that we need?

Re: Any interest in DE Darryl Tapp?
Tapp isn't a true OLB, but he plays the run pretty well.
He had only 2 snaps in pass coverage and 306 total snaps last year with Philly per PFF.

Re: Any interest in DE Darryl Tapp?
Tapp is solid rotational DE.
I doubt the Eagles just give him up for nothing. If they don't get anything for him, they may just keep him and cut at another position.

Re: Any interest in DE Darryl Tapp?
Knowing the Eagles they will trump him up and try for a 2nd or 3rd round choice. Arizona is still smarting.....

Re: Any interest in DE Darryl Tapp?
We don't really need run supporting DE's/OLB's we have plenty of them, we need pass rush and more pass rush.
