Any interest in Shawne Merriman? (Merged)
Bills just cut him.
I knew they would though as soon as they signed Mario Williams and Mark Anderson.
Merriman isn't a great fit as a 4-3 DE and is better suited as a 3-4 rush OLB.

Might not be a bad option for a look-see to compete with Kindle. He's only 28 years old.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

I think he's done. Steriod abuse has left him with the body of a 35 year old.

Nope. He's done, stick a fork in him.

Re: Any interest in Shawne Merriman?
Id be interested. If only for 8-10 weeks, if his body holds up that long, he could really help with the loss of suggs. I think hed instantly be our best pass rusher in a perfect world, however hes pretty banged up and not the player he used to be apparently. Still worth a look to see if he could be serviceable in the short term, could be good for both of us.
I do think terpsfan is right, the juice really hurt him longterm but did give him a few years of stardom.-JAB

I remember when the Chargers put him on waivers back in 2010, he publicly wanted to come to Baltimore. I honestly would like to see him bought in to compete, we really need all the pass rush we can get.

I'm not sure what he has left. I feel that he is just a recognizable name on the market now especially after PEDs. If the Raven's bring him in, I'm sure that they did their due on him to prompt the move, but if not, I don't think that they are missing much.

Bringing him in for a workout to see what he has left wouldn't hurt. If they think he can provide something then sign him to a minimum deal, if not then don't.

Re: Any interest in Shawne Merriman?
I wouldn't have minded the team kicking his tires during training camp. But going into the season? No, I am not interested. He's far to injury prone to risk cutting someone else in his favor.

Re: Any interest in Shawne Merriman?
I agree with everyone that Merriman off the juice just isn't a very good player and his days of juicing have led to some injuries that you just can't bounce back from and continue to play at a high level.
Still though, I'd kick the tires and see what he could do. Kindle hasn't looked very good and could still potentially be a liability, so the depth may not be a bad thing. I don't know that Merriman could beat out Kruger or possibly even McClellan or Upshaw at this point though.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.
