I see the defenders for that piece of crap are still out there. Just glad the Chargers are stuck with him and not us.

    Um, what?

Many fans on this board were screaming to pay the guy like he's a top five NFL tackle. The Ravens didn't value him as such and let him walk. How exactly can anyone argue that the Ravens evaluation of this guy has failed in any capacity?

The Ravens played the Gaither situation perfectly. P-E-R-F-E-C-T-L-Y

It's not based on anything. It's the opposite of true. The Ravens knew what they had with Gaither. A not-top-five tackle that wanted to be paid like a top five tackle. I don't care how awesome the guy is when he's on the field. He's started five games in the past two years since demanding a top level contract from the Ravens, and it looks like he's likely to miss serious time this year. There's no argument here to be made that the Ravens read the tea leaves incorrectly.

That doesn't account for laziness. He needed to be picked at his condo to go to practice.

True Dat!! Few have ranted here or elsewher in cyber space about Gaither and his storyline more than I have.

When he's played (and I encourage the more ambitious among you to calculate his PSE (Per Snap Earnings ) in the NFL - it could be a record for OL), he has shown talent. Not lights out talent, but enough to attract the attention of any team interested in a solid LT - i.e every NFL team . He is still young by NFL standards (that becomes a little less true every day btw, Jared my boy). Who can't excuse the Ravens, KC and SD from hoping that a little more maturation and commitment to conditioning, etc., etc. might not have him pull it all together with one more chance The record steadily shows so far that this is not likely to happen. San Diego was in desperate straits w/ its OL when they grabbed him from KC's scrap heap and in no position to debate his "intangibles." He delivered at the end of the season and looked All-World compared to what he replaced. Bingo: pay day #2.

Now back trouble again. Hey, he probably does have a chronic back condition that is exacerbated by poor conditioning in and off season (you know, the "not as much fun" part of being a professional athlete), Attention remaining 29 NFL teams to have yet signed Jared Gaither: an apparent history of chronic back/spine/neck problems is a red flag for a potential Lt!! What galls folks like me are 2 nagging thoughts:1. it really is all a con and time and $ were wasted (think about it - top NFL LT $ w/o the hard work o- post career CTE and degenerative joint disease -a few of us might just sell our souls to that devil!); 2. All he needed was just the unconditional love he never got from his Baby-Daddy and we could have had J.O. II for a decade

So is Jared Gaither the guy who drops a hammer on his foot at work and gets a SSI disability shyster to get him full disability for life or not??

Only his hairdresser [San Diego Sean) knows for sure

We're also home of the 12 week ankle sprain.

Please someone point out where I stated ANYTHING else about the situation BUT distrust in the raven's medical staff.

It has, through circumstance or whatever, been the right move to move on from Gaither. It is a fact I agree with. You canb't rewrite history and I still think that had it not occurred how it did then the past two years COULD HAVE been different. With what we know now, it was the right move.

Oh, and Cleveland, home of the staph infection is one notable exception, good point.

Some are quick to wonder if his poor conditioning caused his back problem but I think it could just as easily be the other way around. That is only made worse by that fact that by NFL standards, JG is still pretty new to football. He played 1 season in HS, 2 seasons in college, and has an aggregate total of about 2.5 seasons worth of NFL games over the last 5 years since being drafted.

Kindle was a bit different. I don't think any team forsaw him falling down a flight of stairs and fracturing his head. Knee issues maybe, but he hasn't had those, has he?

Injury concerns from college are a roll of the dice. Gronk's back has been fine, but he has been dinged up quite a lot. And Kyle Wilson...is he even considered a hit of a pick? Last time I remember his name, it was from being picked on by Joe Flacco and losing the battle. I'm sure about 6 teams could get shat on for skipping AP in the draft due to medical concerns...and he turned out fine.

Back when we drafted Musa Smith, everyone was worried about him having stenosis (narrowing of spinal cord). His health was fine from what I recall...he just sucked, that was the problem.

We weren't the only teams that has medical flags...sometimes you're right and sometimes your wrong. I'm sure the Pats have had guys flagged for injuries and had them be healthy and the same for all teams.

And with Kindle, his concern was with his knees...and frankly, his issues have absolutely nothing to do with them being an injury concern. With Cody, I may be wrong, I don't remember him having knee issues...I remember depression in college, but not knee problems. Don't see how the team would have saw that coming.

100% dead on. The issues and injuries that have derailed Kindle's and Cody's careers were not issues that existed in college (other than immaturity in Kindle).

And, as far as sprained ankles go, I'm not sure I'd blame the medical staff when the HC says anything about injuries. Neither of our recent HC's have ever been very forthcoming, honest or factual when it comes to injuries.

Any one who is a Gaither apologist in any way is a prime example of the impossibility to reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.

It's my opinion and nothig more, and has VERY little to do with Gaither. Pointing to a single player for how I came about that opinion(which would be inaccurate as it's more a general feeling relating to several years of following the draft closely), that one player would be Gronk.

And it is true, it hasn't been Kindle's knees, and I don't think that knees were the big thing with Cody pre-draft either... It's just a sense of a lack of faith in our staff, perhaps it is less founded then I think, perhaps not. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I trust our FO in general, more then nearly any other. I jsut don't have that same faith in our training staff. It jsut seems to me, that every time I hear a player was off our board completely, that he has a long and healthy careeer. And it also seems, that many times when we draft players that many other teams had off their board, that they have sorry short careers.

It's a small smaple size to so....
