    Salary Cap Update

    Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap
After recent flurry of roster moves, the Ravens are currently $3,123,858 under the Salary Cap limit. But that's only for the top 51 Cap #s.

    Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap
Once season starts all players (53,IR,PUP,PS) will count. Depending on who makes team, Ravns will likely only have around $1M in space then.

    Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap
At this pt, Suggs and DReed likely on PUP, McAdoo already on IR heading into season, so 56 players+PS will have to fit under Cap as of now.

    Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap
8 Practice Squad players will count $775,200 against Cap based on $5700 per week x 17 weeks x 8 PS players.

That's still good money for a Practice Squad player.

I can see a little cap pressure on Ellerbe. If he's beaten out that's a nice savings.

I'm surprised that nobody has raised their son to be a practice squad player.

    The job security sucks though.

Yeah I honestly have a feeling that Nigel Carr may be kept over Elerbee. Elerbee has a second round tender currently worth 1.25 million I believe?

I agree. The Ravens would save some $$$, and Elerbee has been a disappointment (albeit for an UDFA)... Bc

Honestly, that wouldn't surprise me. Ellerbe is not a hit with the coaching staff. Apparently there are some issues with his work ethic which is surprising with Ellerbe being a former UDFA himself. If he keeps having a not so great camp and Carr keeps shining, I think the Ravens will be hard pressed to keep Ellerbe.

$1.927M. It's not guaranteed, so if nothing happens even during the last cutdown, they could still jettison him at any time and save the balance.

Wasn't he the starting center for the Rams towards the end of last season though?
