OT - Orioles pursuing acquiring Francisco Liriano.

    http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/20...cisco-liriano/

The 28-year-old Liriano is 3-10 with a 5.31 ERA this season, but he’s had enough strong outings lately to drum up some interested. He struck out 15 A’s on July 13 and 10 Orioles five days later. While he did give up seven runs in his last start against the White Sox, he still has a 3.68 ERA in 11 starts since May 30.

    Thoughts?

As long as he doesn't cost much in terms of prospects, maybe they do take a chance on him. That ERA is a bit troubling though.

dude was a phenom before the surgery... if it all starts to click again he could be a great bargain. he looked like crap his last start and hasnt had much success lasting past the 6th. again, as long the price isnt too steap hes probably worth a shot at trying to make him consistent. Greinke is more of a sure thing but will cost a lot more. id be down for either.

Now both of those guys are off the table, who might they go after next, Garza? I am thinking that while they are looking for a starter, corner infielder, and outfielder, maybe they stay with what they have. Next season, they get Wada and Hammel back.

Orioles are talking to the Phillies about Joe Blanton. Seems money is the hold up. They want the Orioles to absorb the rest of his contract for the year ($3m). Saw it on cnnsports.com

I saw earlier over on masnsports.com that the Phillies sent the Orioles the medical records of two prospects. Maybe the Phils are trying to sweeten the deal with more players to lessen the sting of that $3 mil.
