Re: Ravens #5 in Preseason Power Rankings

    Hey lets face it guys.

Our defense isn't getting any younger, Ray Lewis is terrible and can't cover. Flacco is average at best. This team is 8-8 at best.

    3. Chargers

    5. Steelers (playoffs, wildcard round)

    8. Ravens (playoffs, AFCC)
    9. Eagles
    10. Cowboys
    11. Bears
    12. Texans (playoffs, div round)

Out of his top 12 (projected playoff teams), 7 made the postseason. Not terrible, not great. Had the Giants at #15, also missed on Denver at 30, Cincy at 32, and San Fran at 25.

    5. Cowboys

    12. Dolphins

Again, 7 of 12. Misses included Bears at 23, Chiefs at 25, Seattle at 26.
This is evidence for my belief that the Cowboys and Chargers are the two most consistantly overrated teams in the NFL.

Reasonable. Though I could see some pundits respecting us enough to put us over Atlanta.

If last year proved anything its that the only power ranking that matters is the one after the SB.

Who cares or remembers who was #1 in week 7 last season.

They are fun to look at in the way the National Enquirer is fun to glance at in the checkout isle. You look but take it none to serious

IF the Ravens were #1 12 out of 16 weeks and lost in the first playoff game that would suck. I would rather be #3-#10 all year (meaning your competitive) and finally peak at right time and finish #1 like we did last season.

Yeah, I don't think we were ranked #1 at any point any where last season, yet our trophy case has doubled in size. Fun to look at and see the ridiculous things uninformed "experts" say about teams they have never watched all year, but certainly not to be taken seriously.

Sporting News preview has Ravens as #5.
their summary is that Ravens O makes them very, very dangerous, and Ozzie &co have done well restocking.
someone also suggested Harbaugh removed certain players (Boldin, Leach) and it's now *his* team (Mostly because Ray retired).
"Nothing stops these Baltimore Ravens. Beat them, injure them, shove them to the bottom of the standings, drag them into a hostile environment and mount a big lead, and they just keep trudging forward like nothing fazes them." (Bleacher Report)
