I think the word BUST is overly used. I believe in the long run Doss will see playing time as the season moves on. I think he replaces Boulin next year and will see playing time in 3 wide receiver sets. I think a lot of fans Doss wasn't good bc he was behind Williams but in reality he had health issues. I think the weight gain will help him out muscle some db's. Some of the greatest wide receiver lacked speed but their route running made up for it. I was told that all routes should look the same once u take the 5 steps off the LOS like head movement, steps taken, foot placement. Torrey Holt from the Rams was a great route runner and paid attention to detail like how far the db played off him, which technique the db used coming out his back pedal, he also know which db played aggressive and the most important he could read defenses.

I looked at last year as a red shirt year for Doss. The injuries, no OTA's and a giant step up in class made it tough for him. His hands are good. He has size so let's see if he becomes the sleeper Raven for this year.

Boldin, Tsmith and Jones have solid positions on the roster. The other 3 spots are somewhat up for grabs. Jones has a spot because he is a veteran presence and he can play special teams. After that I think you have 4 guys going for 3 spots.

I agree with your basic premise, but I don't think Doss has much to worry about. I don't think LaQuan Williams should be overly worried either.

Unless D. Thompson shows himself to be insanely loaded with potential to a point that shocks everyone, I think the WR position is pretty straightforward. Boldin and Smith are our starters. Jacoby Jones, Doss, and LaQuan will battle for snaps as the #3 WR. Streeter and Thompson will battle for that last WR spot. If Streeter wins, Thompson likely gets cut and put on the practice squad. If the Ravens sense that Thompson provides more immediate value, then I think he gets slot #6 and Streeter comes up with an injury significant enough to be put on IR.

I just can't see any scenario, aside from injury, that keeps Doss off the 53 man roster. Doss, unlike someone like Thompson, has no chance to making it to our practice squad if he were cut.

I agree with this assessment. I think Boldin, Smith, Williams, Jones, and Doss are locks. Streeter and Thompson are battling for that last spot. Which ever loses will end up on IR along with David Reed.

I hope you guys are right about being so certain they come down with an injury... Its possibly either one looks completely different by TC, for better or worse.

I'm not certain they will keep 6. In fact, I don't think it's very likely at all. The ravens almost never keep 6. I think the only reason they would, would be fear that Streeter wouldn't make it onto the PS.

Didn't we keep 6 last season? Boldin, Doss, Evans, Williams, Reed, and Smith.

Mostly for Laquans and Reeds ST ability, which we discussed early could come from the DBs this year. If it comes down to Chykie or Streeter/Thomas, id go chykie only because we seem to have a lot of injuries in the secondary every year, its depth better served. Could be very similar roster break down as last year but if they go 7 Cbs its likely that they only go 5 WRs to compensate, unless they use Graham as a SS/DB and release considine. Its going to be a tough battle for the 5th WR and 6th DB and then the coaches will still have a big decision to make.

My bet is that if Reed can't participate at all during pre-season then they'll give him an injury settlement/waiver.

He'd be competing against Jacoby Jones, Deonte Thompson, and Asa Jackson for return specialist and then he'd be competing against LaQuand, Doss, Jacoby, Streeter, and Thompson for a WR slot.

    I just don't see it.

He was a flash in the pan as a return specialist, but serious injuries in back to back years? It's hard to stick with a team under those circumstances.

Boldin, Torrey, Jacoby, Doss, LaQuan, Streeter/Thompson.

That, IMO, is how it will likely pan out.

I really hope he beats out Jones for the 3 and they just use him as the return specialist and the 4. I just have visions of dropped balls in playoffs and Jones is not exactly known for his hands.
