Translation: The Steelers change in salary cap strategics will not work.

Unless Oher plays like he did in his rookie season or makes the pro bowl for the next two seasons, whether that be at right or left tackle, he isn't going to get a mega contract in 2014 plain and simple. If we draft a left tackle in 2013, Oher could potentially become trade bait with Jah Reid on the roster. I know that the Ravens love Oher and all, but this is business.

Never said Oher was in line for a mega contract, but starting RT's can get a decent amount of money.

My point was more to whether we re-sign him or not, instead of how much it would be for.

Again it is hard to predict how the next two years will play out, that will determine which way we go.

The more information about the new CBA that starts to become clear the more clear it becomes that the owners got a MUCH better deal. The players were bent over a chair and took it with no grease.

Ravens on the other hand will be around $80 million, but there are way more variables to get an accurate number with the uncertain future of about 4-5 of our guys. Maybe Ravor can do some projections, the Ray contract and Reed possible extension are big factors, along with what we do with Oher.
12 guys will count 100 million towards their cap? I am sensing the end of the road for some of our favorite Steelers. Such a shame.... NOT!

The sad part is they've already restructured those deals as far as they can. Even if some of those guys agree to a massive pay cut they are still in deep shit because a lot of it is dead money, ie converted bonus money.

Any idea about how much of it is dead money?

Only significant dead money will be if they cut any of these guys. The numbers I listed are a little bit of salary and a shit ton of bonus money pushed back from 2010 and 2011. Bonus money that becomes dead money if released.

But like you said, they have restructured so much it won't save them hardly anything if they cut them with all the dead money, so they are stuck.

Zero cap flexibility, no depth, and pray to God none of them get hurt or don't perform. They are going to be operating with one arm tied behind their back in 13 and 14.

Good news for the fans! While I expect to see some escalation in 2013/2014, hopefully the price-gouging of the 00's will end, as Ravens fans are reaching the saturation point.

Ticket prices have escalated in near-direct proportion to salary cap increases since 1996, when the Ravens came to town. Compare you old ticket stubs -- the slope of the graph to be nearly the same as the following:

In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Pricing tickets based on market demand is now price-gouging?

    That's a new one.

Relax, he's using it as a metaphor and not fact. Nothing wrong in using this terminology
