thats where i was confused i thought even after the july 16 date a guy designated with the tag could be fined from there after, didnt VJAX lose money when he held out 10 games or so

The tag is paid out over the course of 16 games...each game you miss, you miss that game's paycheck.

That is correct. Until he signs his Franchise tender, he's not under contract and cannot be fined.

It's players presently under contract - MJD, Ed Reed - who would be subject to being fined if they fail to post at mandatory OTAs.

that's what I thought, so we won't see Rice for a while... maybe they'll get a deal done in July
