Way OT: Ravens or Non-Ravens Dog Names

    Hi everyone,

I am most likely getting a 2 year old Black Lab mix from a rescue this weekend. I really don't like the dog's current name so I will be changing it and I need some ideas. As always Ravens related names are always in the forefront but any other Black dog/dark/creepy type names might work too. If you are going with a player name I would like some sort of way of turning into a pun that indicates it's a dog not just the players name

Anyone want to help me out with some ideas?

Off the top of my head as far as Ravens related all I have are:
    Raven
    Poe

I have a lot more dark names:

    Zelda
    Zorak
    Reaper
    Raven
    Poe
    Phantom
    Vader
    Banshee
    Hallow
    Celestial
    Spectral
    Ghost
    Galaxy
    Witchy
    Midnight

Thought not Ravens related, my black Lab is named Bunk.

You should know where that comes from. He sports a Ravens collar 24x7.

That's a great list. Tough to choose.

    I like Midnight.

Just chose something you don't mind yelling 50 times a day. That works with kids too

My bro just rescued a 3 legged black lab and named him "brooksy".

    I like "reed" or "ngata".

Damn, I like that name HR and the reference. It's a girl dog otherwise I would use Omar, he was always my favorite!

Wire isn't bad, I will throw that one on the list

I have a big black lab and named it Ray! My buddies dad is a steelers fan and has a dog named Bettis. Safe to say when they get together Ray DOMINATES Bettis

I'd go with Stringer for a male and Kima for a female. I know it's not Ravens related but it's close enough

My neighbor took in a mutt with a broken left paw, a sprained right hind leg, left ear and right eye missing, plus nose bit off, that answers to the name of "Lucky."

Thanks. And kudos to you for getting a rescue. Both of our labs are rescues. Mrs. HoustonRaven is involved in the South East Texas Lab Rescue; in fact we're going to a fundraiser this Saturday.

As someone mentioned, you can always use Kima.

Midnight's a cool name. I also Like the Wire references Stringer, Omar, Bunk. I have a Yellow Lab/Shepherd mix. Labs are GREAT dogs, if you like fun, loyal, and yes....sometimes stubborn dogs, you'll love a Lab. By the way do you know how to change the dog's name? Just in case you don't, what you do is continue to call it by it's present name but add the new name to the end of it then gradually stop using the old name. For example if it's present name is Magic and you want to change it to Poe, you start by calling it MagicPoe and continue calling it that for a month or two and then start dropping the Magic and just call the dog by it's new name Poe. When the dog responds to to Poe, you know he's got it!

Thanks, my last dog was a chocolate lab rescue named Shadow she was the sweetest dog I had her from age 4 -14. I amfinally ready for another dog and my friends rescue has a really sweet 2 year old black lab mix. I never really identified with any of the female characters from the wire, I guess I could use Vader as I have a cat named el guapo, just continue with the whole movie villian theme... I like the suggestions, and will keep reading for more as my mind is not close to made up on a name.
