Worst Week Ever for the Prez?

First the Polish gaffe, to which he offered a tepid, at best, apology.

Now the grim economic news (or, as Galen likes to say, a "humming economy") of an uptick in the unemployment numbers, a jobs estimate that is half of what everyone predicted and, according to Reuters, the jobs report for March and April were adjusted lower and there are real signs the economy is about to falter.

Personally, this stinks. The past few weeks I've watched my 401(k) go from stagnate to losing value.

I believe that the economy is the only thing that can derail the President's second term. Without a miracle recovery between now and Nov, he really could be in trouble - whether he has/had any impact on this mess or not.

I'm with you; retirement is moving further away with each new piece of bad news.

If it's not the worst, it's up there.

The worst part for him is two things, yet one in the same. His biggest point to discredit Romney (Bain Capital) is not working, and even his supporters and surrogates are saying it's a bad idea.

Bill Clinton sticks another fork in Obama’s Bain strategy, says Romney had ‘sterling’ business career

Least we also forget the so called "war on women" that tanked.

He's going to be forced to talk about his record at some point. As long as Mitt keeps on point and pounds Obama on his record, this will be a very close race.

I disagree. If the economy stays in the tank, this race won't be close. He's already lost votes because of his comment on gay marriage (no, we are not starting a new gay thread. Personal views on gay marriage are not important in this discussion.) Ironically the one good thing he's done is going to cost him a lot of votes. His administration has deported illegal immigrants in record numbers, not given them the citizenship they wanted.

LOL - Even the WH is saying the market won't be solved over night ya know? Galen's been telling us how great it is with it going over 12,000 pts and it's still at 12,111.57 pts, so which is it. ILMAO.

Actually, it's like living in the south like my great grandmother who had a lot of money. Only it was Confederate money and she lost it all when the war
    ended. It was worthless.

Same with these stocks - sort of.

Im sure DARB is being sarcastic.

He's not deporting them. Millions are leaving because of the bad economy.
They can't get jobs so they're going back to Mexico. You can say his
policies like the stimulus is deporting them but he's not doing anything
deliberate like that, not like IKE did when he deliberately deported tens of thousands of immigrants called Operation Wetback so returning Korean Vets could get jobs.

As far as the economy staying in the tank, this is the worse since the
depression so Romney should be 20 pts ahead. It shouldn't be this
even but it is because of his likeability despite the gaffes.

Stocks worse day of the year as they continue to plummet and the FAceBook
    guy is losing billions.

Terrible jobs report is with increase in unemployment partly responsible for this drop.

World Bank says brace yourself for a market drop ala
2008. I've been preaching that on here for couple of years.

But think of the bright side. You young guys are no where near retirement anyway, so don't worry.

I posted a while back that my portfolio hasn't improved much - only by 15%
since the 08 Crash. Those of us who lost our shirts are still broke even if you left it in.

Galen likes to say the stocks went back up to over 12,000 but as I keep
saying it's because the gov't is buying the indexes via the PPT. There hasnt
been that much capital by institutions and especially individuals for it to
    increase on its own.

We had an investment banker posting in here named Stealth Raven who
said I was right and that most of the industry doesn't know about the PPT
and he wanted to know how I knew about it. I read John Crudele. My
own broker didn't know about the PPT.

It was the most monstrous agency created since the IRS and Reagan
created it. Actually he was forced to by the money hitters like Mease
that put him in. They lost fortunes in the 87 crash.

The idea was for the gov't to buy indexes to keep the line over 9,000 pts.
They do this by printing money. There's so much money being printed
every day nobody knows how much. When people like Crudele try to call
their offices they can't get thru.

The printed money goes to off shore Cayman Island accounts and from
there straight to Goldman Sachs on Wall Street. They got everything back
because they know whast the line is going to do because they're setting
    the prices.

The CEO was Clinton's financial Czar and expanded the PPT to include
price fixing. It has worked perfectly except in 08.

As Stealth Raven said, you have to know something about derivatives
    to understand it.

Just google the PPT for more info. My broker said it would take 4 or 5
years to get back what I lost and I'm not even close. I am back but
only because of my savings per year and that on a fixed income.

I'm saving more than I'm spending and have remained debt free the
    last 10 years.

    Congress could learn from me-lol.

Tokyo hits 28 year low cause of global markets rout.

George Soros gives the Euro 3 months to live, blaming the Central Bank in taking
over the states. Hypocrite. We have a central bank here called the Federal Reserve
doing the same thing his liberal fore-father Woodrow Wilson installed.

And when that happens, the shit will hit the fan here big time too.

I think he went with his gut "George" but closed it with "Romney" instead of "Bush"

It's getting bad for the prez when the Don Rickles jokes come at a
Shirley MacLain bash. The place was full of liberals but the jokes came.
I'm waiting for OBY the Janitor to play the race card on him.

After getting over their shock, the blacks ended up applauding Rickles.
