Re: All-time Ravens "dream team"
Seems like Sharpe 2000 is fairly unanimous. Same with Flacco 2010, which IMO was the best season we've seen from a QB in terms of winning and offensive proficiency. I will mark those two in, along with Heap as the backup.

Re: All-time Ravens "dream team"
I will offer up another interesting matchup, 2000 Matt Stover vs. 2006 Matt Stover. Everyone seems to think Stover 2000 is a given, but I do believe Stover 2006 was something like 30-for-32 on FGs.
We still haven't reached a consensus on Webb 2011 vs. Starks 2000
or Holmes 98 vs. McGahee 07
or Testaverde 96 vs. McNair 06
or JJ 2009 vs. Adalius Thomas 05 vs. Adalius Thomas 06 vs. Jamie Sharper 00 vs. Jamie Sharper 2010.
Here's another interesting one: The battle for our #3 WR. Anquan Boldin 2010 vs. Boldin 2011 vs. Alexander 1996 vs. Ismail 1999. All three guys will round out the 3-5 WR slots, but in what order?
Here's another: Willie Anderson 2008 vs. Orlando Brown 1996
And another: Two backup safety slots- Dawan Landry 2006, Jim Leonhard 2008, Kim Herring 2000, Eric Turner 1996, Bernard Pollard 2011
I don't know how to do the poll things on here. If someone had the time to throw these into one of those polls, it should allow us to solidify some of the remaining spots.Last edited by LukeDaniel; 05-16-2012 at 12:00 AM.

Re: All-time Ravens "dream team"
I re-watched all four Raven playoff games in the 00-01 super bowl season and I was amazed how good OJ Brigance was at kickoff coverage.
I'm inclined to just award him a spot.
Right now, I'm trying to think of who to fill out the 3 special teams slots on the roster.
I'm thinking of the following players:
Ayanbadejo 2008
Brigance 2000
Brad Jackson 2000
Robert Bailey 2000 (loved that guy...very underated)
James Trapp 2000
Any others come to mind? I was thinking Bart Scott 2002, where he was a special teams demon, but I'm fairly certain Scott 2006 has a spot waiting for him as a reserve LB already.

Re: All-time Ravens "dream team"
Kelly Gregg would have to get some type of spot on the rotation I'd think.

Re: All-time Ravens "dream team"
Yes, Another interesting competition would be Siragusa vs. Gregg.
Frankly, I think Gregg might very well have had 4-5 years better than Siragusa's 2000 season.
Siragusa's best year as a Raven was 1999, where he had 34 tackles and 3.5 sacks in just 14 games. In 2000, he only had 20 tackles and 0 sacks in 15 games. I realize stats aren't a very effective way of evaluating a interior D-lineman, but the eye test says Siragasa 1999 was a better season.
I'm not sure which year I'd single out as Gregg's best though. In 2003, he had an astonishing 63 tackles and 17 assits to go along with 3 sacks. In 2006, he had 41 tackles, 21 assists, 3.5 sacks, 1 FF, and 3 fumble recoveries for 59 yards. His 07 and 05 seasons were very good as well, but I think it would boil down between 2003 and 06 for him. 63 tackles for an interior D-lineman is a really good number. Sam Adams had a very good 14 year career and never had more than 37 in a season. Gregg wasn't a pocket collapsing avalanche like Adams, but he was more versatile in terms of what he could do at that position.
I'd think the last of the 3 reserve DL positions would go to Rob Burnett 2000. Burnett had an AV of 21 that year, which is actually the 2nd best AV in Ravens history----and he's not even a starter.

Re: All-time Ravens "dream team"
Also, I pulled Jermaine Lewis 2000 off the list for a moment so he could be compared with his 97 and 2001 seasons.
1997- 28 punt returns, 437 yards, 15.6 YPR (lead league), 2 punt return TD, long 89------41 kickoff returns, 905 yards, 22.1 YPR, long 51, 683 yards from scrimmage, 2025 all purpose yards (4th in ravens history).
2000- 36 punt returns, 578 yards, 16.1 YPR, 2 TD, long 89----only one 1 kickoff return, 23 yards (I believe Corey Harris handled kickoffs that year). 199 yards from scrimmage, 800 all purpose yards
2001- 42 returns, 519 yards (led league), 12.4 YPR, 0 TD, long 62-----42 kickoffs, 1039 yards, 24.7 YPR, long 76, 0 TD, 76 yards from scrimmage, 1623 all purpose yards
Lewis is remembered for his 2000 season, and the kickoff return in the Super Bowl, but that was one of only a few kickoffs he returned that year. He was mainly just a punt return dynamo.
His 1997 season could be viewed as better because he was the same punt return dynamo (15.6 YPR vs. 16.1), but he also returned kickoffs in 1997 while contributing 648 receiving yards and 35 rushing yards.
The spotlight accentuated Lewis' rare talents a little more brightly in 2000, but 1997 might have been his best season in Black and Purple.
