OBY rallies Christian right/Mitt says thanks
Mitt would like to thank OBY for doing in one sentence what
he couldn't do during the entire primaries - motivate the
Christian right for him with his same sex announcement.
And Mitt would like to thank OBY at Fallwell's pride and joy -
Liberty Baptist - that Baptist bastion that didn't even like Mitt
because he was a Mormon. This is the greatest coup in the history
of American politics that just won it for Mitt.
Santorum gained most of the Christian right as many of them
are not comfortable with a Mormon prez but with OBY favoring
same sex they are now rallying to the call of Onward Christian
Soldiers as their fight song to defeat Obama.
Over 10M Christians didn't vote in the last election.
It's now the lesser of the two evils and that's the current
leader of his Evil Socialist Empire.
As someone posted on the other thread, Obama just lost
the election.
When voting as a group, the Christian right won every presidential
election they wanted except Clinton's. Jimmy Carter was the first
candidate to gain their support as a southern baptist guv from Georgia
and with the liberal Ford's wife making liberal sexual remarks like it's
OK for her son to live in sin, that cost the election for Ford.
Then they scored big voting for Reagan twice after Carter betrayed them. They lost with Clinton and won with H Bush and W. After W wanted to legalize immigrants they soured and didn't vote at all during the 06 mid terms which gave full control of Congress back to the DEMs and that led to OBAMA CARE when he was elected and the Christians stayed home.
During that time their leaders disappeared with Fallwell's death and James
Dobson's retirement. He mobilized them not to vote after the immigration
announcement. They didn't vote in Obama's election which helped him
win.
Now they're in a furry to vote him out and are singing Onward Christian
Soldiers.
Thanks OBY.

He has instantly solved the biggest problem Mitt Romney had which is how to energize and rally the social conservatives and the Evangelicals. They are now singing “Onward Christian Soldiers” and riding to the sound of the guns on this issue, John.

Re: OBY rallies Christian right/Mitt says thanks
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, said Obama handed Romney and the Republican Party a gift — and both will be negligent if they don’t take advantage of it.
Greatest coup in history? Speaking at a university that denouced Mormonism
as a cult and teaches courses on it. He spoke vs same sex marriage and
just gained over 10M votes that will give him the White House.
From Galen's own MSNBC. Oh, Mitt spoke before 30,000 in their football
stadium. Only a few thousand showed up for OBY at Ohio State.

Speaking to more than 30,000 packed into Liberty University's football stadium, Romney drew his loudest applause from his proclamation: "Marriage is a relationship between one man and one woman."

Might just say something about the intellectual heft of your average evangelical? I think he had them starry eyed at as soon as he said "between a man and a woman".
From Galen's own MSNBC. Oh, Mitt spoke before 30,000 in their football
stadium. Only a few thousand showed up for OBY at Ohio State.
2011: Despite the threat of rain, Williams Stadium was packed with 30,000 in attendance. Graduates, numbering 5,180, along with faculty, marched in to the sounds of the Liberty University Wind Ensemble and Liberty University Commencement Chorus, followed by the Liberty University Chamber Singers.

2010: Liberty University honored its largest-ever graduating class — 8,650 students — at 2010 Commencement on Saturday, May 15. After a week filled with rain, thunderstorms and high humidity, sunny skies greeted the graduates as an estimated 28,000 filled Arthur L. Williams Stadium, many of them in temporary seating due to ongoing construction.

Seems like 30k is about the expected number. By the way, in 2010 Glenn Beck was the speaker!

Re: OBY rallies Christian right/Mitt says thanks
No one would have shown up at all if OBY gave the commencement
speech silly and he says he's a Christian and this is a Christian
University.
And it was in the rain and only 5,000 graduates. The rest of the
30,000 were evangelicals from all over the country.
People came from all over the east coast and they all weren't related
to the grads once they heard Mitt was speaking. It was all political
including inviting him to begin with.
Christians can't be for same sex marriage because it's an abomination with God according to Leviticus 20 in the Old Testament and Romans 1:24-27; I Timothy 1:10 in the New Testament plus these:

Amazing the amount of hate and judgement that comes from a religion that preaches against those things...
So ignorant.

Re: OBY rallies Christian right/Mitt says thanks
It's your hatred of God and Christians who bring his message. They killed
us in Rome. You ridicule us today.
It's God's judgement that says it's a sin. Not us. We're just the messengers. God destroyed 5 cities because of the sin and he still gives the sinners a
chance at redemption and salvation. That is is love. We just have to
obey him.
Twenty years ago we didn't even have this conversation.Last edited by AirFlacco; 05-13-2012 at 03:10 PM.

Galen - It was the largest crowd ever in Liberty's history and the largest
crowd assembled in the town's history.
It wouldn't have been if OBY were speaking.

You are quoting from the bible which was not written by god. Would you like me to quote anti-bigotry text from other books written by man? Or other ridiculous and contradictory text from your bible (which I have read more than once) which I am sure you don't believe?

Re: OBY rallies Christian right/Mitt says thanks
I love it when people, mainly thieves, say we should respect everybody else's opinion but since we're Christians we're automatically bad people.
There are gay Christians. I know that defeats your views that we're all carrying pitchforks and looking to string up the local minorities, but the truth is 99% of the Christians out there believe in love for our fellow man, unlike the thieves who hate everyone that doesn't follow their herd mentality.
Surprisingly enough there are gay ministers out there. In the old testament, God did destroy cities because of sin. However, Christ came to earth to wash away our sins in his blood. Homosexuality is a sin, but the Bible tells us not to judge lest we be judged ourselves. Since there are no levels of sin, and I'm a sinner, I can't be angry about someone who wants to love someone of the same sex. I'm not perfect, nor do I claim to be."A moron, a rapist, and a Pittsburgh Steeler walk into a bar. He sits down and says, “Hi I’m Ben may I have a drink please?”
