I like this idea better than Osi. dont trade, cheap, and probably will only want a one year deal anyway. Also has Alabama ties, so hes already probably on newsomes radar. To me hed be just as good as Osi for not such a steep price.
I saw this same thing on NFL.com from La Canfora. It would be a good idea, but like GOTA posted, he's got to stay healthy.

I've wanted Odom since last year. Health is an issue, but if he's healthy he's a solid DE, cheaper and fits better than Osi.

Did the Bungles play a 3-4 when he was there? :S Is he a 5 tech DE?

If someone does overpay for him, then as another poster stated, the Ravens will likely get a 4th round comp pick for him. This is absolutely worth it IMO.
I agree. Suggs may be gone for the season, or at least an appreciable amount of time. Osi has 40 sacks over the last 4 years (69 in his 8 year career). With the high hopes this team has, adding a veteran like him for a 3rd round draft choice, would be a good deal for us...even if we didn't get any comp in 2013. I want the Ravens to win the upcoming Super Bowl, Osi may help us do that, so let's let 2013 take care of itself... Bc

No, but he can play 5-technique.

I don't think the 5 technique in any way takes advantaged of his skills...he would primarily be a pass rush specialist here.

Also, as somebody alluded to, we likely won't re-sign Osi because somebody will offer him big money elsewhere...in which case we would likely get a compensatory pick in return (perhaps a 3rd or a 4th). What's the risk if we have extra picks next year and we would get a comparable pick in return when Osi signs elsewhere in 2013? That said, I'm not sure why the Giants would deal him for a draft pick that's in a similar round as the compensatory pick they'll get in return after this season...unless they're just totally fed up with his BS and they're ready to move on asap.
I'm with you on this. On paper it looks compelling but the problem I have is the assumption that we will get so many compensatory picks in this round, that round etc. Compensatory picks are based on, among other things playing time and productivity correct? Too many wildcards here.

He came out and said that he will keep his current contract if he get traded. He wants out of NY that bad I guess.

I would like to add one thing to the discussion. Suggs may be back at some point during the season but with no offseason workouts, then playing right after this injury, I would believe we will not see the 2011 Suggs but perhaps a 75% or so player. I doubt you see a defensive POY anytime in 2012 from him. Not a knock on him but just a realistic expectation for someone coming back from an injury

Jett, that's why I agree with you. Suggs is a ?, but Osi is ready to play... Bc

agreed. No doubting his ability when healthy (8 sacks in 6 games last time he was). hopefully he can last at minimum 10 weeks. Once again i dont think him or Osi are guys wed want longer than this year. Soon as suggs is back to speed their PT will shrink immensely. Im assuming when (which i think is pretty much a given at this point) he is that hes only used on obvious running downs and not used as a primary PR at all this year, where hell need that explosiveness that hes going to be lacking.

Not totally. The Giants would get a pick in 2013 not comp pick that will be later pick number in 2014. Also, if traded Giants clear 4 million in cap space, they need cap space.

Re: Rumours: Ravens offer a third round pick for Osi

    Why it makes sense.
    Consider our DL/OLB situation
    Kruger-lb/de never been a starter
McPhee-situational guy never been a starter
Jones-really 2nd year guy never been starter
    Kindle-complete unknown commodity
McBean-3 game suspension-how good is he? Wave guy.
    Upshaw-rookie
    Suggs-might miss half season
    McAdoo-?????

    What we lost
    Suggs- 8 games?
    Redding experienced starter
JJ - solid Olb experienced starter

I see alot of new players in new roles and ? marks.
They need a veteran to stabilize the front and push the young guys who we don't know how they play in new roles. Especially, vs the quality of QB's we face.
Plus, what if injuries hit? Osi gives you versatility and
Experience- he has played in a lot of big games?

3rd rounder is worth it. Way to much change up front
    and a new DC.
