    Logic and Suggs Injury

I have been thinking this for quite and while and it is starting to come to me now.

You would think that there would have been an MRI on the injury by now and the Ravens and Suggs would know if it is a full tear (making him miss season) or a partial tear (allowing a return after week 8 or sooner). One way or another it would have came out had it been a full tear as it always does for star players.

Logic is telling me that in the past the Ravens have done a good job of making injuries sound worse then they are. Which goes back to my point about the MRI, had it been a full tear it would have been out and been known that Suggs would miss the season.

Other Logic facts would indicate that nothing has been said since thursday which is good news.

There is no way that the Ravens or Suggs dont know if its a full or partial tear

My gut is telling me his injury is not as serious as it is being made to be.

The swelling has to go down before you have an MRI.

That's why there has been no official word yet.

Having had the injury it is a partial tear. The Thompson test would tell you in 5 seconds. If it is torn fully you can't flex your foot. The MRI is likely to determine how much it is torn-
How many mm's. Even a full tear is 6 months from surgery. Ask Wally Williams as well.

Thats a good sign then. So hope that the tear is not that big. Good thing is it is not a full tear so he could return much sooner. Plus it is also high near the calf. He will play this year, my gut says week 8 if it is the partial tear that is reported, possibly week 6 if it is a minor tear. Heck if the tear is small he could be back only missing a few games.

One other thing, glad it's high not low. If it was at the insertion where the Achilles connects to the heel bone, surgical complications could happen. Plus, if bone peices come off with the lower tear it is a nightmare. Attaching it to the bone could increase rehab time and the Achilles attachment is more risky and less secure.

Would that be if it was a whole/partial tear on the lower part or the part Suggs has it which is where it connects the calf?

2 weeks to begin rehab? I like that time table a lot.

me too, If he starts Rehab at late may, he could easily come back early after 6 weeks if the Ravens want to get him back. Injury did not seem as serious and I would guess a 30 min process is not that major which is good and Suggs has shown to heal quickly. My gut now says he comes back after 6-8 weeks closer to 8 so he gets 2 weeks of practice in before he plays unless the Ravens think he can come back sooner and do not leave him on PUP to start the season. This way he can practice as soon as he is ready.

Everything points to a speedy recovery, but to say exactly when he returns and is 100% is dicey. He almost assuredly
will be back in November worst case. But if I had to wager I'd say he plays in early October, just an educated guess going through the same thing, but mine was much more severe. It's possible he plays September of course. The tear may have only been a few mm's or a centimeter or so at the thickest point of the Achilles which is located near the calf. 30 minutes for that kind of surgery with alot riding on a high profile expensive athlete makes me believe it was pretty minor. It takes the dentist longer to clean my teeth.

I'm hoping for the best, but not getting too excited.
A partial tear of anything is tough as heck to recover from, yet alone the achilles.
