    Logic and Suggs Injury

I have been thinking this for quite and while and it is starting to come to me now.

You would think that there would have been an MRI on the injury by now and the Ravens and Suggs would know if it is a full tear (making him miss season) or a partial tear (allowing a return after week 8 or sooner). One way or another it would have came out had it been a full tear as it always does for star players.

Logic is telling me that in the past the Ravens have done a good job of making injuries sound worse then they are. Which goes back to my point about the MRI, had it been a full tear it would have been out and been known that Suggs would miss the season.

Other Logic facts would indicate that nothing has been said since thursday which is good news.

There is no way that the Ravens or Suggs dont know if its a full or partial tear

My gut is telling me his injury is not as serious as it is being made to be.

The swelling has to go down before you have an MRI.

That's why there has been no official word yet.

Having had the injury it is a partial tear. The Thompson test would tell you in 5 seconds. If it is torn fully you can't flex your foot. The MRI is likely to determine how much it is torn-
How many mm's. Even a full tear is 6 months from surgery. Ask Wally Williams as well.

Thats a good sign then. So hope that the tear is not that big. Good thing is it is not a full tear so he could return much sooner. Plus it is also high near the calf. He will play this year, my gut says week 8 if it is the partial tear that is reported, possibly week 6 if it is a minor tear. Heck if the tear is small he could be back only missing a few games.

One other thing, glad it's high not low. If it was at the insertion where the Achilles connects to the heel bone, surgical complications could happen. Plus, if bone peices come off with the lower tear it is a nightmare. Attaching it to the bone could increase rehab time and the Achilles attachment is more risky and less secure.

Would that be if it was a whole/partial tear on the lower part or the part Suggs has it which is where it connects the calf?

I can't say I fully understand the question. But, what I do know according to my DR. was you don't want to tear the Achilles from the heel bone. Since Suggs tear is near the calf, he to my knowledge shouldn't have those complications.
I don't know the risk of a high tear, I have never heard of any problems where is tear is supposedly located. So my GUESS is he should be fine after surgery and rehab.

I'm sure every injury is different.

Jim Miller on Sirius has had achilles tears twice. One full and one partial.

    His take?

He said sometimes it's more difficult to come back from a partial, rather than a full because the surgery and rehab can be more difficult with a partial tear. I'm guessing because the full tear chan just be "reattached" as a partial has to wrork around the good area, and be careful not to fully tear it...

    ???

We're all going to have to just wait and see on this one.

Right, I think the Ravens have to prepare for life (in 2012) without Sizzle. Luckily, we have Kruger, Kindle (?), McClellan, and our 1st round draft choice to try to fill the void.
How smart (lucky ?) was Ozzie to trade down then draft Upshaw? ... Bc

I believe he goes to the specialist today.

I may be a little too optimistic, but I expect Suggs to be back no later than week 8 (I hope!).
