Now we know
So Obama told Medvedev/Russia ""This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility,"
Now we know what he was talking about (as if we didn't already)

Re: Now we know
We knew what it meant when it was posted here.
The news now seems that the Russians aren't willing to wait for the
second term while rattling their swords. Keep in mind this is Russia's
most senior military guy not their leader. Usually, cooler heads prevail.
We can still wipe each other off the map even though we've dismantled
more nukes than they have. They have a slight edge but add on the
Chinese but one Trident sub can wipe out 1B Chinese from the China
Sea with over 20 nukes, each armed with multiple war heads. We have
over 20 Tridents.
Maybe they think he'll lose.

Re: Now we know
Russia objected when Reagan deployed those Pershing Missiles in Germany. They were
scared to death of them because they were so accurate they could hit directly on the
Kremlin.
Reagan put them in anyway.
Let's see if OBY has the balls to put this new system in.

Re: Now we know
I'd rather not see the President bend over and let a country walk all over us, but in the same breath I definitely don't want to see a President basically challenge a country like Russia or Iran in a game of chicken. It may have worked 20 or 30 years ago, but that doesn't mean that it'll work all over again.
I think one trait that so many overlook in a Presidential candidate is diplomacy.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: Now we know
Good point because we had the upper hand 20 or 30 years ago but we have no choice.
It's either put them in now or let Iran launch the nukes when they get them.
Then you'll be saying we should have put them in.
The big lesson learned from the Cuban missile crises was that Russia won't go to war
vs us for any country. If we attack Russia - yes!
That allowed us to strike Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan
Yugoslavia and the Balkins (NATO using our jets), Kosovo and Albania.
All that killed the Serbs and brought them to peace.
This is a military guy speaking, not their leader.
