No i compared him to Deion Sanders and Randy Moss. I contrast him from Dick Butkus and Ray Lewis. I used these players because football fans have an general idea of who these guys are. Its a difference. Didnt say Jacoby Jones is one of those players. (Its obvious he is not)

And you never answered your source for determining that "70% of Americans are obese". I'm still curious where you gathered that number from.

From Dr. Phil. Who cares? My point was it takes mental toughness to even prepare your body to go to the NFL. Which Majority of Americans do not have a clue what it takes. That was my point. Who cares about the actually percentage. And the way things is going in America it will be 70% before we know it. But even if somebody is big that still does not mean their mentally tough. I was just making a point and using an example.

Re: Would Jacoby Jones Be a Good Fit With Ravens?

    Nice example.

    /sarcasm.

This is almost exactly like your Russell Wilson infatuation. You get fixed on something and then when a bunch of posters come and point out different things, perspectives, and *gasp* FACTS to you, you become this childish person who essentially posts a bunch of drivel that (at it's core) equates to absolutely nothing and has no meaning. You purposely disregard these things because you can't be wrong.

People wanted to bring up Jacoby Jones as a potential kick/punt returner option. Even in another thread prior to the Texans releasing him I said he'd be interesting because he is very fast, tall, and when he hangs onto the ball isn't a bad returner. However, post-release from the Texans his agent eluded to Jones wanting to go to a team where he'd be a bigger part of the offense than what he was in Houston. This is a problem for a few reasons. The first being that he had every opportunity to be a big part of the Texans' offense and even when lined up across from arguably one of the top 3 receivers in the game for the past FIVE seasons the best he could muster up was 562 yards in a season. If he is such a good player (as you seem to feel that he is/could be) then why did the Texans cut him for 2 rookie receivers without even letting him compete for a roster spot? The answer is he's just not that good of a player and the Texans weren't going to keep him regardless. So, either he or his agent (or both) are delusional to a certain degree. The second reason is that if he's looking to be a bigger part of a team's offense that almost undoubtedly means that he's going to want to get a fair amount of money. Probably not top tier money, but more than what he's worth and what his NFL production is worth.

More importantly, if you've watched him play (short of a handful of games where he did play very well) he's not physical at all and in the AFC North against the Steelers and Bengals you NEED to be physical at WR. He's not, he's never been that type of a player, and at 27/28 years old it's likely that he'll never be that kind of a receiver. Now, if Cam utilized 3 or 4 WR sets often designed to get specific receivers into open zones where they aren't going after contested passes, then Jones might make a little sense. However - as you and I both know - Cam rarely uses more than 2 receivers at a time and almost never uses 4. So, why would Jones even want to come here? Furthermore, why would the Ravens (who have very little cap space at all) want to sign and spend for someone who's not a good fit schematically for the Ravens?

Finally, if you're really concerned with the kick/punt returner position (which I adamantly contend that you are not because Jacoby Jones is not the best FA returner available at the moment) then you'd be looking at guys like Stefan Logan who would be a fraction of the cost and would have little to no aspirations to be anything more than a kick/punt returner. Logan averaged nearly 5 yards more per kick return last year. Another better option as a kick/punt returner (mostly kick) is Jerious Norwood, who has a career average of over 25 yards per kick return AND he'd fulfill a potential depth RB position as well. Again, he'd be significantly less expensive than Jacoby Jones.

Oh, and uh...here's your hammer: :hammer:

No. Im sorry you must think I take what people say over the internet to heart. I dont. I made this topic for people to give their opinion and discuss. I only responded when you said he was not mentally tough. Other than that i dont care if people agree or disagree with me. Go back and read my comments in this topic. What can I be wrong about when im just giving my opinion? Its just football. I dont be on here everyday acting like the grammer and topic police on this website. If you want to go live at M&T stadium and be the team reporter thats fine. Some people dont.

Russel Wilson? Was that my post? Or was it another alias........:bag: < This guy. I guess you like it because you keep bringing it up.

You should have posted this on page one of this topic. So we can discuss it. Like i said before this is a HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION. This is a FOOTBALL FORUM. Where people DISCUSS TOPICS. Some topics are OPINIONS OR FACTS. Eitheir way we can DISCUSS it on here.

Everything you said about cam system and him not using a lot of recievers in his packages I already stated it. I already stated what would happen if HYPOTHETICALLY Jones was signed here. I already stated the Ravens probably are not giving him the time of day. This is all opinion

Since you seem to think that I didn't say that early on in this thread here is a recap...

The only reason I would say no is because for his size he plays very small. He doesn't get off of press coverage well at all and I don't think he could mentally hang in the AFC North. However, his size/speed combination is very intriguing.

The other thing is what kind of a contract is he going to be looking for? The Ravens don't have much cap room at all unless they get Rice's and Flacco's deal (mainly Rice's) taken care of soon. I think a team like Miami or Carolina may be a better fit for him and have the money to give him a better deal than what the Ravens would do.
You even responded to this and said Carolina might be a good option as well. By my questioning his ability to be mentally tough enough to hang in the AFC North is absolutely founded when you look at the body of work he's put together. Knowing that Pittsburgh and Cinci are to major obstacles and play very physical games, how would Jones be able to deal with that kind if physicality? Odds are - based on how he plays - he wouldn't be able to. Physically he's got the tools to be a good receiver, but there is more than just being physically fit and a good size...especially when it comes to rivalries like the Ravens/Steelers.

Again, he's not a bad player, but he doesn't fit the profile of a Ravens player.
I identified early on in this thread that Jacoby Jones isn't a good fit for the Ravens and what they're trying to achieve offensively.

When I say he doesn't play like a Raven, basically I'm saying that Jacoby Jones is a fucking pussy. Ok? He's a bitch. He's a 6'2" 210lb receiver who doesn't want to get hit and doesn't want to get physical. He plays small, he gets alligator arms, and he can't get off of press coverage. Guess what would happen when he drops to return a punt against the Steelers? Mike Tomlin is going to have his gunners looking to plaster him and get in his head because he knows he'll likely cough it up.
Again, I'm pointing out my position that Jones would be a liability on offense and on special teams against the Steelers. I'm not talking about any current or former Ravens or anyone else. I'm talking about Jacoby Jones and how he'd fit in (or not fit in) with the Ravens.

Jones has had every opportunity in Houston to solidify himself as the #2 receiver. He hasn't and a big reason for that is because he's only really effective when he's wide open, which in the AFC North is rarely the case. Jones wouldn't have been the difference in any of those games you mentioned by any stretch of the imagination.
...And here I go again pointing out that in the AFC North against physical teams with physical and aggressive defenses there is a high probability that Jones just really wouldn't be successful.

You're the one trying to include the Ravens' players. I'm telling you that Jones doesn't fit what the Ravens are trying to do. He'd be overpriced and not very effective in cold weather against physical teams. If he was such a great player, why did the Texans cut him in favor of two unproven rookie receivers?

There are "Raven type" players and Jacoby Jones isn't one of them. Ginn was being looked at purely as a return specialist and guess what? He didn't have any fumbles last year and has had 1 fumble in the past 2 seasons. Ginn may not be a physical player, but he doesn't fumble that often either and Ginn also isn't looking to be a team's #1 or #2 receiver. He also has 3 ST's touchdowns in the past two seasons as well, including 1 PR and 1 KR for TD's last year. So, in 138 returns (Punts/Kickoffs) in the past two seasons he's fumbled one time. This is, of course, also considering that he averaged over 12 yards per punt return last year and nearly 28 yards per kick return.

Your boy Jones didn't return a single kick off last year and averaged 10.6 yards per punt return with 1 TD. He also has 3 fumbles in the past 2 years.

As you can see (maybe you didn't read those posts although considering you quoted/responded to at least one of them I feel that you did read them) I have clearly stated in several posts in as many ways as possible why I (my opinion based on his production in the NFL) do not think Jacoby Jones is a good fit for the Ravens and even though I don't think he's a bad player, I just think he'd be another expensive & wasted free agent acquisition.

I think being a top organization has a lot to do with really respecting other organizations ability to find talent. If the Ravens identify that certain teams are grabbing players that they like, it only makes sense to give a shot to players that those teams let go.

I think it also speaks a ton to their talent that they can let guys like the ones we have go...along with others like Mario Williams and not miss a beat.

It's Connor Barwin we should be keeping an eye on.

The Texans are going to back up the cash truck in Watt's driveway to keep him and that means they are going to have to deal Barwin to stay under the cap next season.

Connor Bawrin hasn't really been having a great year as a pass rusher, one sack, and doesn't seem to be rushing the passer the way he used to.

Agreed this year is a down year but let's revisit this post at the end of the season.
