Re: Colts Trying to Trade Freeney
You are right for the most part but he was right about the Ravens and Bryant McKinnie
and he did say Moss was going to work out for the Saints before the media leaked it
out. He is 50-50 at best when it comes to rumors but the Jets did clear up cap space
when they gave Sanchez his new deal so who knows how this Freeney situation could play out.

Under the new collective bargaining agreement, teams are allowed a carryover of unused cap space from the 2011 season. The Jets had about $8.4 million in remaining cap space at the end of last season, a person with knowledge of their cap totals said at the time. That person requested anonymity because the team does not release its cap figures.
That means the Jets' cap number for 2012 is about $129 million -- if that math is correct. Starting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, when free agency begins, the total of cap figures for the 51 highest-paid players on the Jets' roster must not exceed this number.
The Jets' "top 51" cap number is believed to currently be at $114.6, giving them about $14.4 million in cap space to play with heading into free agency.

Re: Colts Trying to Trade Freeney
And they have EFA's to tender, RFA's to tender as well as a few free agents of their own to pay.
They won't have anywhere near 14 million and even if they did why in the hell would they use it on a 32 year old pass rusher who does not fit in a 3-4??
It makes no sense, at all. I don't care if they had $50 million in cap space.

Not arguing against the 3-4 stuff...although they can more or less use him as a pass rush specialist. I'd agree though, that to most it'd make no sense.
As for the cap space, I'm pretty sure the guy took into account all the EFA's and such.
If they were more that $8.6 under to begin with, and carried that over...to go along with at least 2 huge restructures, it's easy to see how they have that much available.
