HHS Says Religious-Affiliated Organizations Must Cover Contraception

Just wondering what others thoughts are on this.

See the GOOD GRIEF thread on how much the Catholics are pissed off
over this and what they're doing about it.

Jewish folks are pissed off at him too but for different reasons. See
    that too.

Both groups voted for him and we said this would happen.

Birth control is a good thing. It prevents unwanted pregnancies. A condom is cheaper than 9 months of prenatal care and than insuring another person and years of food stamps. if Obama was truly a "food stamp President" and the dems really wanted to put folks on the dole, they wouldnt pass such leglisation. You can't have it both ways.

If you think there is a god who is pissed because of birth control than don't use the benefit. Pretty simple.

95% of Catholics admit to using contraceptives. Somehow I don't see the Church leadership mobilizing their base to oppose this measure all that much.

I call this mobilizing their base. Hannity mentioned
this too Mon night. Simply put, they do not beieve in
them and don't like being forced to.

The priests can say it all they want, but the priests are not the parishioners and the parishioners are on record saying that they believe in contraceptives. 95% use them and 80% believe that people should have access to them. (15% are apparently hypocrites who use condoms but don't support the rights of others to get them but it doesn't matter, THEY want to use them.)

Too many Catholics simply disagree with the Church on this issue.

True, but they are trying to mobilize.

I'm sure some will at least sympathize to piss off the
    gov't.

Well Spammy - they might not have to mobilize.

OBY might be doing it for them. See link. He's
considering their concerns and they did vote for him
    and it is a turmoil.

You aren't providing any evidence that individual Catholics are that upset about this. Politicians and church leaders keeps saying that people are upset but polls show the overwhelming majority of Catholics support people having access to contraceptives. This whole thing reeks of manufactured controversy.

I agreed with you on the true post, but my last post showed where OBY is considering their concerns and might do something in this election year and since they voted for him and are so upset. It's the high archy that's pissed off not the rank and file as you say. The church is still pretty powerful..

    I said might.

1% of catholics jerk off while 99% don't admit to it. So what difference does it make anyway?

What I am surprised at is how no one is discussing how the Government is telling religious organizations things they have to do. Especially things that go against their faith.

Have we become so used to our Government over stepping their limits that we don't even see that?

Believe in a God or not, the Government should not be able to force religious organizations to do things that go against their faith.

Here is a short, but descent read:
