Re: This feel worse than 2006?

2006 was worse. That was at home and the Ravens were heavily favored. Not the case here.

2006 and today were just way too different to compare IMO.

Today we played well enough to beat anybody. Joe will never get the credit he deserves because Ozzie can't find receivers that will consistently hold onto the ball. Boldin's last year drop against the Steelers and Evans this year. This year is worse because our D stopped Brady and held that high scoring O to 23 points. If Evans. protects the ball after the catch this thread becomes mute. Sorry Joe. This is worse than 2006

This is worse than 2006. We were so close. 15 seconds away, in a game that we actually played really good in.

    Bingo.

The Patriots were heavily favored and were picked to win by virtually every talking head, even the ones who aren't complete morons. The Ravens played a great game. In 2006 we were upset in a game where we played *horribly*, losing to a team we were supposed to beat. It was the opposite.

I'da preferred to lose to Brady's arm rather than Cundiff's foot.

    But such is life.

Aside from the kick, Flacco played his ass off, as did the defense.

Damn, even Cam called a good game.

As hard as it is to swallow, congrats Patriots.

Future is bright for the Ravens.

Agreed. 2006 was extremely bad, but that was because we lost at home to the Colts and McNair had probably the worst game of his life and the team played like sleepwalkers. But this is much, MUCH worse. The team played hard and well, and Evans had the game-winner in his hands. Protect it and we're in the Super Bowl. That's just plain devastating. Then, for Cundiff to miss the only chance we had left of winning the game was even worse. That kick should never have had to happen, had Evans done his job, but it did happen, and Cundiff blew it. For me, it was like a double whammy. It'll be a long time before I get over this one.

    Worse. Definitely worse.

This feels worse. We outplayed the Patriots today - we didn't outplay the Irsays in 2006.

In the grand scheme of things, yeah it sucks worse. We were in position to win this game with what, 22 seconds left when Evans makes a clean catch and that has it poked away instead of securing it.

Yeah, this one hurts a little more. The 2006 game was like, "Oh shit.. we gotta play Peyton again?" and the outcome was not that surprising.

    This.

To me, 2006 was MUCH worse, because the above statement could not be said for those Ravens. I left the stadium that day feeling that McNair was clearly finished in the league, and going back to Boller did not equate to "bright future", IMO.

Ray is already chirping about putting the band back together. Future IS bright!

Re: This feel worse than 2006?

2006 was much, much worse. Playing at home we lost to a lower-seeded team that we should have beat handily. Every offensive shortcoming of that entire coaching era came back to haunt us in that game. We didn't even use our strong running game against their week rush defense. #2 seed and we didn't win a playoff game. Devastating disappointment, and exacerbated by the whole Indy thing.

This year, we advanced to the conference title game. It's always a good season when you do that. We lost on the road to the top-seeded team. Yes, we had our chances to win, and the way the game ended was a terrible disappointment. I feel like shit right now. But we can't have had the same expectation of victory in this game that we had in 2006. It hurts, but 2006 was much worse.
