Another excuse, dandy. Maybe if he'd played with Randy Moss, Jerry Rice, and Larry Fitzgerald in their primes for his first 4 years he wouldn't struggle to read zone defenses.

Honestly, it is the receivers coach. They need to make a change there. Far too many dropped passes the last two seasons.

You all miss the point about Flacco. The problem's never been his "weapons." He's been surrounded with talent from Day 1. His problems arise from things that wouldn't matter if he had an all world supporting cast. He's been more or less fine with the "talent" he's had around him anyway - his deficencies lay elsewhere.

Do you really believe that Flacco has that great of a supporting wide recievers cast? He has Mark Clayton, injured Todd Heap, past his prime Derrick Mason, Lj Smith, Demetrius Williams, 30-31 years old Boldin, Rookie Torrey Smith, rookie Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta, etc.

Now, which one of those guys is a number one wide reciever who can dominate games like Calvin Johnson, Fitz, Andre Johnson, etc. every single game.

We all know you don't like Flacco and bash him every chance you get, but you don't have to act like there is some great wide receivers corp that the ravens have every years.

Just put him on ignore like I just did. He has no idea what he is talking about.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could judge a QB on only 1 factor- sorry, but it doesn't work that way.

All quarterbacks have "deficiencies" to certain extents, and all have assets (or they wouldn't have made it to the NFL). they are ultimately judged on leadership, their ability to win, and on the ability of their strengths to overshadow their weaknesses.

What *does* matter is that with more CONSISTANCY from his receiving corps, he can only improve on his already impressive resume. Is he going to suddenly be able to stop fumbling as much, or throwing a few picks- probably not to the extent that some would like- but if he has more yards and TD's, it will go a long way to masking those deficiencies, don't you think? If you don't think working with the same recievers will improve his game (all of their games), then there's no point in discussing- but any logical person can see the value in consistancy. And when Dickson, Torrey, and Pitta also continue to develop with him, it will also help. Is it going to make him elite-"probably not".

You people need to get over the expectations of having an elite QB- realistically there are only going to be 4 or 5 elite QB's- it doesn't mean we can't win a superbowl. Even Drew Brees throws 2 or 3 really bad balls per game (several of which should have been intercepted in that Lions game), but he overcomes that and shakes it off. I can't stand the way people will point out how Flacco "really threw a bad interception" or "was high on 3 throws". It's like you don't watch other games... It is a rare game when a quarterback doesn't make a few bad throws, or do something stupid- Even Brady, Manning, and Rogers make bad throws every so often. They just need to minimize them and move on- and the fans need stop being such reactionary babies every time Joe doesn't have a perfect game.

And another factor that goes into the equation is confidence- in himself AND his receivers. When the offense starts gelling better, you can bet that it will have a small "snowball" effect to a certain extent. Confidence will come from more talent, and more weapons. Do you not think that Stafford has the confidence to just throw balls up in the air to a receiver like Megatron? Sorry, but talent matters, and to say otherwise is just foolish. While our receivers will never be able to do that per se, they will get to know each other better, and the offense will be more smooth as a result.

Yeah, my issue is the whole thing with this great talent of wide receivers that he keep talking about. Now, we all know that Flacco has been incosistient this season and that he has struggled in games, but we don't have to make up lies about how our receivers are so great that everybody would want them. We have a young group in Smith, Pitta, Dickson, etc. that have only played for the first time in a starter position this season with Joe. It was going to be a learning experience. The fact that Lee Evans was injured only hinder the chance for him and Flacco to work together for the entire season.

But then again, this is RavensNTerps who at the scout.com board for the ravens always bashed Flacco whenever anybody defend him.

I see how this works. You read an article about how Joe Flacco never had much talent surrounding him, and you say "He's been surrounded with talent from Day 1." The exact opposite. And you refute the points made in the article with what facts of your own? That's right, none. And then you say that his deficiencies lay elsewhere, and cite what examples to back up your point? Oh, again, none. This is easy!

Re: Flacco and his receiving corps over the last 4 years...

I'm just curious, but has Filmstudy or anyone actually watched Flacco against zone-based defenses?

It just seems like a very easy and all-encompassing thing to say about a QB. "He can't read zone." Yea? Prove it. Seriously. I'm curious. Because ALL defenses run a zone of sorts and what's funny is the defense that played the best against the Ravens this past season, IMO, [Jacksonville] ran a press-man coverage scheme the entire night and none of the receivers could shake the coverage.

Indianapolis runs a cover-2/zone scheme and he threw for 227 yards and 2 TD's. It's just a small example, but the point is that with football everything is symbiotic. The QB can only do as much as the receivers can do and conversely the receivers can only do as much as the QB can.

The OL doesn't block = the QB has to throw the ball sooner than designed = the receivers aren't able to get into the route enough = incomplete pass or INT = the defense starts stacking the box because they don't have to worry as much for letting a deep pass get behind them = running the ball becomes extremely difficult.

    Everything effects everything.
